Mobile is one of the highly utilized widget in this modern world. The services and technologies available in this device are myriad and awesome. The latest technologies are identified primarily with the help of this gadget. Every person in this world owns a mobile now and it has become an obligatory device. Even a vagabond owns a mobile these days! So mobile is an icon of modern age.

Radio is one of the oldest equipments used for the communication purpose. This is the perfect ancestor that paved the way for the introduction of the mobile phones. Similar to mobile phones, radio occupied some space in every individual's place during the time of yore. This radio served as the pictogram of the ancient times when mobile was out of action.

Mobile phone is a long range electronic device which helps for chatting, texting etc. It can be used for internet purposes and Wi-Fi connections help to connect it to the web world. Blue tooth devices available in it are helpful for transferring files from one mobile to another. This technology helps in the transfer of files within a short range of distance.

Radio was first used in transferring of maritime telegraphic messages using Morse code between land and ship. One of the nostalgia of the radio is the survivors of the Titanic ship were detected with the help of marine telegraphy which was available at that time. Radar (Radio Detection And Ranging) is used to detect the warships and aircrafts of the enemies during pre-war and war periods.

With the help of mobile phones, photos can be transferred using MMS (multi-media service).SMS (Short Messaging Service) helps in transferring messages in an effective manner. Various types of mobile phones are available which comprise Mobile radio phones, Car phones, Cordless phones, Satellite phones, Wi-Fi phones etc. Of these, car phones are used to talk in the cars even while you are driving. In these phones, powerful transistors are added and they allow to talk hands-free. Mobile radio phones use IDEN standard and it is implied for applications of both mobile and radio. Satellite phones are directly connected with satellites and thus signal towers are avoided and you neednot worry about the signal.

Similarly, various sorts of radios are available and they are amateur radio, antique radio, battery less radio, digital radio, radar, pirated radio etc. The pirated radio is for hacking the signals from registered stations and transferring audio signals illegally which led to this name. Thus, each type of radio is having its specific applications.

The mode of working of mobiles is that it transfers the electromagnetic signals to the cellular network which consists of switching points and base stations which transfers the signal to the respective stations and again transfer to concerned mobile.

Radio's mode of working is the transmission of signals by modulating electromagnetic waves with frequencies below visible light. It travels by oscillating electromagnetic fields which travel through space. Two modes of transmission are possible, one is AM (Amplitude Modulation) and the other, FM (Frequency Modulation). FM is the most widely used and it generally avoids the mixing of unnecessary voices which results in noise. This generally occurs in AM. Hence, FM is given high priority when compared to AM.

Comparatively, mobiles are highly updated and having wide uses when compared to radios. The radios with two-way transmission process serves like mobile phones and they help in transferring and receiving of signals effectively. Radio signals can be transmitted for long distance unlike Mobile phone signals. But radio signals may hit ionosphere in space and will be back to ground which is harmful. This kind of problem is inevitable in mobiles also. Thus mobiles are having a plethora of applications compared to radio and had its origin and base from radio.
