Mister Quarterback and Miss Nobody - Chapter 4

Sorry if I don't publish a lot soon. I'm just really busy. Sorry again :(
"UGH!" I grunted as I tried to force my locker open. Today was just not my day. My stupid locker wouldn’t open and now I was five minutes late to Mr. Lee’s class and I knew for sure he would give me a detention for being tardy. I tried to calm down and did my combination again. Finally, the locker flew open and I grabbed my books hurriedly. Just as I was about to close the locker door someone tapped my shoulder, making me jump. I slowly turned around, expecting an angry teacher, but lucky for me, it was just Kim.

"Hey, Genna!" She said in her perky little voice and smiled with her sparkly green eyes. Kim was the only girl that ever bothered to talk to me except for Julie. I guess I could consider her a friend but we never really hung out. Just the usual ‘hey’ or ‘what’s up’ but that was it.

"Oh hey, Kim. Um where you going?" She had her backpack on already and was obviously not hurrying to get to class like me. Kim suddenly gathered her beautiful light brown hair and tossed it back, rolling her eyes.

"I’m going home early. I have a doctor’s appointment." She crinkled her tiny nose in disgust. "I’d rather stay in school though."

"Oh I see. Well, good luck at the hospital! I should probably get going. I have Mr. Lee next and you know how he hates tardy people." I shrugged and waved goodbye. I didn’t want to just blow her off like that but I really didn’t need another slip for being late. Before I could walk away, though, Kim stopped me on my track.

"Hold on! I’ve been meaning to invite you to my birthday party this weekend, at my house of course. You can bring Julie if you want…OH and you’re new boyfriend." She winked at me while I stood there totally confused.

"My boyfriend…? What are you talking about?"

"Oh you know who I’m talking about. What’s his face…Um, that new kid. OH RIGHT! Anthony." She giggled and congratulated me with a high-five. Wait, she thought I was going out with Anthony?!

"No, no, no! I’m not…He’s only…We’re just…" I couldn’t help but to stutter in the shock of it all. Actually, I couldn’t even finish a proper sentence!

"You don’t have to explain, Genna. EVERYONE knows about you and Anthony. Why did you think the all the girls were giving you a hard time?" Kim laughed once more before leaving me.

‘Gah. Me and Anthony as a couple? Now /that’s/ bogus. But then again, he /did/ ask me out on a date right? Maybe, just maybe, he likes me.’ I thought about it long and hard until I realized I just wasted five more minutes talking to myself in the middle of the hallway. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"How about I pick you up at..hm..nine-ish?" I had successfully invited Anthony to the party and we decided to go together. That has to count as something right? He /has/ to have feelings for me...I mean more than as a friend, right?! Or was I just over analyzing things as usual. Probably the second one.

"Yeah. Sure. That would be great. I'll see you tomorrow then?" Could I be any more boring? Seriously. I needed to learn some more flirting techniques from Julie. Pronto.

Anthony nodded and a small smile still lingered from his lips. I knew he was trying really hard not to burst out laughing and I couldn't blame him but I /did/ hate myself A LOT right now. Of course, my shoe laces just had to be undone and I just had to step on them and fall. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I just hoped being clumsy would pass as 'cute' in his books.
* * *
"What do I wear? What am I supposed to talk about? I can't even dance! HELP ME." I was going crazy with this whole 'party' situation and it wasn't even eight o' clock yet. Julie was over my house trying to calm me down before the party and hopefully make me look party-worthy. She was already ready and looking hot as usual. Blah.

"Would you just calm the f.ck down, Genna?! Jeez, Louis." Julie joked but I wasn't in the mood for any of that.

"You're supposed to be helping, remember? Not trashing my room with junk food crap!"

"Alright, alright. Chill." she rolled her eyes at my obvious nervousness and poked her tongue out at me. Then by the next minute, my whole closet was dumped onto my bed. But before I could yell, Julie shoved an old scarf in my mouth to keep me quiet. After that, I knew she was serious.

In less than ten minutes, I tried on at least twenty different outfits, thanks to Julie. Every one of them looked good enough to me but didn't satisfy Julie. Not at all.

"Stop whining, Genna! I SWEAR this outfit is the one. Now go get your tiny asss in that bathroom and change!" She threw me a blue baby doll dress with a pair of silver flats and pushed me into the bathroom.

When I was done, I got out hoping to god this one would be good enough.

"AH IT'S PERFECT! It brings out your eyes and..ugh stop fidgeting and show me the back!" She twirled me around doing a very poor impression of Anthony. I had to laugh at that and we ended up on the floor, laughing nonstop.

"Okay we need to stop cause it's MAKE-UP TIME!" Julie helped me up and got me settled in front of the bathroom mirror while I grumbled and whined yet again.
