Mineral Oil as Laxative

Constipation basically occurs when the bowel movement in the body gets arrested. Constipation often puts a strain on the digestive system and makes it irritable. A natural remedy get relief is to use mineral oil as laxative.
Most of us occasionally suffer from constipation, after having an exceptionally tasty and delicious barbecue dinner. One of the basic reasons for the occurrence of constipation is insufficient intake of fibrous substances and nourishment. The fibrous substances act as a lubrication system for digestion and hence facilitate the movement of bowels. Some other reasons may also include, less intake of water, excessive use of medicines, especially antibiotics and also (very important) excessive use of laxatives. The best way to get rid of constipation is to drink more fluids and have more fibrous nutrients. If this does not work, then switch over to the use of laxatives, only with a proper prescription from the physician.

Laxatives to Treat Constipation

Laxatives are basically artificially prepared lubricants that facilitate the bowel movement when consumed. Mineral oil due to all its properties, is often used as a laxatives. So, the genuine question that one might ask, is why to use mineral oil. Here's the answer. Mineral oil is very easy to administer and after it reaches the stomach, it engulfs the constipated mass of waste that is present there. The oil acts like a lubricating bag for the waste, once it has been engulfed, and forces it down the intestines. The lubrication that is provided by the mineral oil eases the stool movement and provides relief from constipation.

Mineral Oil as Laxative

Mineral oil is generally used as a remedy for constipation, if the person has injured or damaged his digestive system. It must be noted that using mineral oil for constipation is a natural remedy and provides immediate relief. It is also used by pregnant women or nursing mothers. It must be however noted that the mineral oil must be consumed only when essential since many side effects have been observed in several cases. The basic symptom or rather the side effect of mineral oil laxative is that, the digestive system stops the production of lubricating fluids, as the whole digestive system relies on the laxative for bowel movement. Another danger of mineral oil, is that the generation and preservation of vitamins in the body also gets hampered and starts slowing down. This is not exactly very healthy, nor very useful for the body. If you have been using a mineral oil on a regular basis, it is recommended that you stop it, the sooner the better. Nothing is more dangerous than making the digestive system dependent upon its dosage.

Mineral oil for treating constipation must be taken only with the prescription of the doctor and in the prescribed dosages. I would advise you not to consume a dose without consulting your physician. The best option for relief in such a condition is though prescribed medication or other herbal medicines.
