Chapter 50: Million Dollar Call Girl
Melanie's husband came by today and he demanded to talk to her alone. Melanie refused to talk to him and she refused to look him in the eye.
"Melanie, I need to talk you. I think once we talk about things you'll understand. But, we need to talk alone." He said
Melanie crossed her arms over her chest. "I think you should leave my brother's apartment. "
"Mel, please come with me."
She slipped her wedding ring off her finger and slid it into his palm. "I think we need some time apart. I need to think about things."
"Melanie, please."
"Bye David." Melanie said
"If you don't come with me right now, then don't come back home at all." David said
Melanie laughed. "It's my house. You're the one that's going to lose everything."
I was walking outside and I had accidentally heard the entire agreement. David didn't say another word to Melanie, he walked to car and drove off.
"Mel, I'm sorry I didn't mean to overhear that."
She shrugged her shoulders. "It's fine, Scarlett. Everything is going to be fine."
Her hand patted her stomach. "I can feel her kicking."
"You think it's a girl?" I asked
Melanie nodded. "Yeah, it's definitely a girl. Hey, should you be at court?"
I sighed. "Yeah, I'll be leaving really soon. I'm just waiting for Kade to get ready."
"Oh, okay. Are you nervous about the trial?"
"I'm nervous about having to see Luke again, but I don't think I'll get charged with prison. I think I'll get charged with a small fine. At least, hope that they'll be the case."
"We'll I wish you didn't have to go through that. You don't deserve that."
I smiled at Melanie, you're such a doll."
She laughed. "That's sweet of you too say. You know eventually you're going to have to meet the entire family.'
I hoped that rest of them were like Melanie. Melanie was a such a sweet girl and she never judged me. She accepted me even when I felt I didn't really deserve it.
"Are they all as wonderful as you?"
"No! I mean you can't accept everyone to be as wonderful as me. " She joked
"Oh, Mel you're really something."
"Our mother is very strict. Very traditional. It was just really hard for her to be a single mother. I think that made her more protective of us."
I nod. How come Kade's never told me this? How come he's never told me that he grow up without Father?
"What happened to his father?"
Melanie's brown eyes widen. "Oh, wait. Wait. Kade's never told you any of this?"
"Nope, it must have of his mind."
"Oh, well I shouldn't be telling you this. If he hasn't even told you this then I don't think it's my place to tell you this. Don't tell him I said, anything."
"Okay."
I guess I wasn't the only who was telling lies. Kade opened the door and stepped outside.
"Hey, girls what are you up to?"
"Oh, nothing. We were just talking." Melanie said
"About?" He asked
"Oh, just girl. "
Kade walked me to the car and opened the door for me. I slid into the passenger side. He walked around the car, opened his own door and side into the driver's side.
"Wow, you look really good."
I had brushed through most of my natural curls which created a soft wave in my hair. I wore a simple, black designer dress to court.
"Thanks. "
"I think everything will work out. Hopefully, this trial will only last a few weeks."
I nodded. "I was thinking that after that the trail is over I could meet your family."
His eyes light up and his lips curved into a small smile. "Really? You mean that?"
"Yes, I do. I think that it'll be a good time to meet your family. Hopefully your mom doesn't hate me too much."
"Scarlet she won't hate you. She'll love you because I love you."
"I hope so."
The car pulled to a stop. We both stepped outside the car. Kade held my arm as he led me away from the paparazzi. They were pestering us with questions, but we ignored all their questions and pushed past them.
Kade walked me inside the court room and we took a seat on the brown benches. Moments later, Luke Martin walked in. A swarm of lawyers followed behind him. He had some of the best lawyers in the country. He had only wanted the best because he needed this trail to go well in his favor. It would be hard to clear his name and get back all the fans he had lost.
"Scarlet." He greeted me, his eyes looked it mine. But, he never looked Kade in the eyes. I could feel Kade squeezing my hand tightly.
"Good Luke, You'll need it."
"Thank you, you too. It was really good to see you. You known I tried to get hold off you for a while, but...."
"Well, I've been busy. Busy with my boyfriend." I added
There was a thick tension that laid between us. Luke didn't say another word and took his seat.
"God, I really hate that guy." Kade said
Only, he wasn't whispering. It said it loud enough for Luke to hear.
Ivan's lawyers crossed examined me for hours. They asked me every question under the sun. They demanded to know every detail off Ivan's and I past relationship. Once court was over I was exhausted.
"Well, that wasn't so bad. Was it?" Kade asked
"Thank you." I told him
He looked puzzled. "For what?"
I wrapped my arms around his waist. "Oh just for being there for me. For putting up with me. Most guys would have left already."
"Well, I'm not most guys."
No, you're not. You're special.
