Migraine Relief Pressure Points
Migraine is a neurological syndrome which causes sever headache and nausea. Hence I shall be discussing about migraine relief pressure points (which are used in acupressure) as they help in relieving the pain.
- Predrome Phase: Altered mood, depression or euphoria, yawing and dizziness happens in this stage. This stage occurs hours or days before actual migraine attack.
- The Aura phase: This phase begins minutes before the actual headache. The symptoms in this phase are visual, sensory and motor in nature.
- The Pain phase: This is most difficult phase in migraine syndrome. The headache can be mild to severe. This phase can last from 4 to 72 hours. The pain gradually peaks and then subsides.
- The Postdrome Syndrome: In this phase, the patients may suffer from mild headache. Some of the people may feel very depressed and others may feel unusually euphoric.
Many acupressure techniques offer relief from migraine and they make use of migraine relief pressure points. This technique of acupressure is very useful for stimulating migraine headaches pressure points. Applying acupressure to pain relief pressure points can be helpful. The following details are very effective for migraine pressure point relief in acupressure therapy.
Relief Point on Head
This is not actually a point, it is a line. Imagine a line from between the center of ears and and stretching to the top of your head. Applying acupressure on this line will relieve your headache, nausea or even dizziness. This is one of the major migraine relief points.
Relief Point on Hand
This relief point is in between your thumb and index finger. Move the thumb of your other hand to the point where your index finger and thumb meet. There will be an area where you can feel slight depression. Well this is a relief point on your hand. You have to find a point where it is most sore. This maybe the place where the tendons of the two fingers meet. Massaging this point will not only relieve migraine, but it works wonders for general pain, cold symptoms or even running nose.
Relief Point on Shoulder
Again, you have to move your fingers from your shoulder towards your neck. Try to find a spot which has a little bit of depression. Remember that this is a very tender area. You are needed to apply pressure on this point. This is the most sensitive spot.
Relief Point on Feet
Slide your fingers between the big toe and second toe. Again, there will be a small tendon where the two meet. Applying small amount of pressure and massaging it should relieve anger stress and anxiety. Read more on human body pressure points.
Important Instructions
- Keep the pressure from light to moderate depending on how sensitive the particular migraine relief point is to touch.
- The pressure should be hard enough, so that you might have some feel of the tension beneath
- Sometimes migraine pressure points may hurt very badly and you may experience difficulty in breathing. In that case, reduce pressure on that point.
- Gradual increase in pressure is the best way to apply acupressure on any pressure point.
