Midnight Love [Chapter 7]
Alex sees Braxton in a whole new light...
I'm so sorry guys, I've been so busy that I haven't had time to type up some chapters. But, here it is! Chapter 7...
I would also like to thank everyone from leaving comments on how much you like it, you have no idea how much it means to me. =]

Braxton was acting weird. Sure, it wasn’t the ‘creepy’ weird, it was more like the ‘distant and uncomfortable’ weird. Then there’s also that one problem that he has, where all his muscles tighten up and such, that’s going on right now and it’s worrying the hell out of Alex. She doesn’t exactly know what it is and even though he said he was fine and it was nothing to worry about, it was one of those things that you can’t help worrying about. She just never heard of a condition like his.
"You’re zoning out on me," Alex mumbled, snapping her fingers in front of his face another time, "snap out of it… Do you want a drink?"
"Sure."
They stood up, surrounded by the other people in the party. It was so crowded that their seats were immediately snatched up once they stood. It didn’t bother Alex that much, but the look on Braxton’s face was that he was annoyed. She still didn’t care, they’ll be able to find a better place to sit. Sitting in a crowd of people wasn’t exactly ‘fun’ in her books, maybe she could find a place where they would be alone.
When Alex thought of being alone with Braxton, the thought actually excited her. Sure, she’s been alone with him before, like in the car, but as they made their way through the crowd she was seeing him in a way she hadn’t before. Before, she thought he was just a cute, goofy teenage boy who was just trying a little too hard to grab her attention and she allowed him to. Now, as she followed him through everyone else towards the drink table, she took this opportunity to look at him without him noticing and with a whole new meaning.
His shirt fit him nicely, shaping his body just the way she found attractive. With muscles bulging from the short sleeves and the dim light made them even more noticeable than before, and his face… Alex bit her lip as she looked up from his body, watching the way he looked at they reach the drinks. His hair feel into his eyes in a way that made her want to push it back, and then there was his lips..
"What do you want?" Braxton asked, turning his head to face her.
"Oh," Alex shook her head as he voice brought her mind back to the party, she hoped that he hadn’t caught her staring, "um, a canned pop… any kind."
Alex wasn’t much a drinker, the taste of beer never appealed to her. She likes to party through and have fun- just without the mistakes of being drunk. Braxton seemed to have the same idea, since he grabbed two sodas.
"I’m not really in the mood to drink," he explained to her when he noticed her eyeing the pop as he handed her a can.
"Good," Alex smiled, impressed that he wasn’t going to drink around her, "that way I can have more fun with you."
She caught the blush in his cheeks as he turned to look away and it sent her heart to beat at a crazy pace, "let’s go find a place to sit." Reaching over, she took his hand and lead the way back into the crowd.
It looked like everyone at her school was there, including people that she never expected to be partying. It was a bit disappointing to see some eighth graders there, they were probably there with a brother or sister, that’s how many get started.
"It’s all filled up," Braxton said in a whisper near her ear, making it easier to hear him than him trying to yell over the talking and music. Even though it seemed like a meaningless whisper, it sent a shiver down her spine.
"Yeah," she knew it was going to be filled up, there was never enough chairs at a party to fit everyone. Pushing her way through the crowd, she headed out into the trees. It wasn’t a long walk, they soon came upon a cut down old tree. The music still could be heard from where they were, but it wasn’t booming like it was back where everyone else was.
"I found it the last time I was here, two weeks ago…? I think," She laughed softly, letting go of his arm to take a seat on the log. Now that she was here, she was nervous and it annoyed the heel out of her. She had been fine riding with him in her car and now she couldn’t even think clearly, "Got bored, but didn’t want to leave."
Braxton took a seat next to her, sipping his coke, "yeah… better with no one around."
"So," turning herself halfway to him, "what’s your story?"
"My story?"
Alex was almost positive she saw him gulp as if he was nervous to answer. Didn’t that only happen in the movies?
