Midnight Love [Chapter 2]

Alex's not so sure what to really think about her new locker neighbor, he seems cute and is will to try and get to know her. This is something new...
"What do I need?" Alex asked herself, bent down in front of her locker and ran thought her classes in her mind. The thought of all the homework that she had had ruined her mood. It was going to take up her entire night, it was going to suck. She pulled out all the booked that she needed and left the ones that she knew she could get done in her study hall. There was a small stack of book in front of her now; U.S. History, College English, the terms, and Physics.

She whistled softly, "It’s going to be a long night."

"Get in trouble?" A voice behind her asked, someone that. The voice wasn’t one she was yet use to, but she knew it was Braxton.

Looking up at him and swiping her bangs from her eyes, she grabbed her stack of books and rose, "I got mark tardy, for some reason they didn’t believe I was helping you." Her head shook as she laughed, it was slightly funny how the teachers didn’t trust her or believe anything she said.

"You make it sounds like that happens all the time," Braxton opened his locker, putting his book along with all the others.

"Oh, you know. I’m just that type of student, I guess." She adjusted the book in her arms, "I’m gonna go. I have terms to do."

"Terms?" He looked at her, his eye free from his hair. Alex studied his features, but also tried to make it unnoticeable.

"I said shit in Mr. Gross’s class, happens all the time too. So, see you tomorrow new boy," she started away, not hearing Braxton’s goodbye.

Pulling her keys from her pocket and just unlocked it as Fret came running up. Obviously he wanted a ride, he hasn’t gotten his own vehicle yet.

"Hey Fret, ride home?" She pulled the door open and pressed the unlock button. He was just lucky he had a friend like her, otherwise he would have to walk or more likely ride the buss. Ha, the bus. There were so many unwanted memories from riding the bus. The buses were hell on wheels, she’ll never ride one again.

"Yeah," He pulled the door open an took a seat into the passenger’s chair, he grabbed a hold of the handle and shut the door.

The car that she droved was a white contour that she bought from her grandma. It wasn’t exactly what she wanted, but it’d have to do. It was better then the shit of vehicle she had before and this one actually ran places.

"Damn Fret when are you going to get you own car?" She asked him. The car now was rolling and the two were pulled out of the school parking lot.

"When I get the money, I guess."

"Get a job."

"Why" He turned and looked at her, pushing up his glasses with a finger.

"You’re a lazy ass.. Because I put more miles on this car driving you home then doing anything else." Fret lived out of town, which would make on hour and something when it was only twenty by car.

"You’re just lucky I love you, because the bust is what you’d be taking if you didn’t have me."

Alex didn’t noticed, but Fret’s cheeks grew rosy. Even though her comment was for friendship, Fret couldn’t help the color raise into his face.

*****

Alex arrived home almost an hour later. Fret’s mom had pulled her inside the house from some ‘chit-chat.’ She absolutely despised it, but she learned from past experiences that it was always the smart thing to do. His parents never really like her from the beginning, they thought that she was a bad influence on their son and she was going to drag his grades down. They probably thought Fret was going to turn into some boy copy of what she is, ha. Yeah right.

His mom wanted all the basics; she asked her what she’s been up to, how was school, how were her parents. When Alex from got away, she left in a hurry.

There was no one home when she got home, so she headed up to her room to begin on the terms. Her room was picked up nice and neat, obviously compliments go out to her mother. Alex was ‘lazy’, so her room was never clean. Every so often when her mom was going through one of her episodes, she’d pull into cleaning mode and clean up everything. That’s the reason why everything she didn’t want her mom to find was in a box in the corner of her closes, hidden with others filled with old clothes.

The room was painted dark purple, her windows trimmed in black. The frame of her bed help up a lacy canopy with silken sheets on her bed. Since it was clean, though, she had no idea where everything was. She use to have a cup of pencils… somewhere. Ah. They were placed on her desk, the only piece of furniture in her bedroom that was never used other then a junk collector. Now, it was clean and everything was put into drawers.
"Thanks mom," Alex sounded sarcastic as she crawled onto her bed and pulled out her notebook. Finding the a pencil at the bottom of her book bag, she reluctantly started. She rolled over on her side, dropping the pencil by her book and pressed the one button on her Ipod stereo. Heavy metal started playing, but she quickly switched it to Alexisonfire.

Happy with the noise, she finally started up on the terms. They were all about political stuff, well most of them were. Luckily they weren’t too long, unlike the terms in her Biology book.

‘This fucking sucks,’ She thought, her writing pulled up an entire page of the notebook, ‘Mr. Gross is an ass.’ It seems like that he only liked to her a hard time, the rest of the students don’t seem to matter.

Doing the terms was hell, it was going to taker her house to finish. She remembered doing terms in her Biology class when she was a Sophomore, they were all required to do the terms as a grade. Being who she is, she waited till the day before they were do to finish them. They would taker her about two hours to get 100 terms done, she was guessing this was going to take her near 4 hours if all the terms had short definitions. Damn. Screw the rest of her work, after terms she was going to go to bed.

The terms were just like she though they were, even though they were short, they were tortured and took her too long to get them done. By the end, she was spend and too tired to do anything else.

"Fuck," she grumbled, rolling onto her back and covered her eyes with an arm. Sleep was just about to come when someone tapped on her door. It had to be her mom, Jason claims he’s too afraid of her room to even come near the door. According to him, he didn’t have a sister. That’s totally fine with her.

"You have a phone call."

Her mom’s voice was slow and professional sounding, and it annoyed the hell out of her. She never showed much emotion around the house. It had been like that ever since her dad left her. Sometimes she just thinks her mom needs to go out and just do somebody, maybe that might make her a bit more happy.

The call was most likely Fret, he normally called around this time. Turning her head to the side to get a look at the clock, It was 10:11. Okay, Fret normally called at 9:30, he must’ve been on the computer. He’s such a nerd. Grabbing the cordless from her mom, she held it up to her ear.

"Nerd, you’re late. What’ve you been doing?"

There was a laugh on the other end, "Hullo to you too."

Silence. Alex’s mom left and the door closed with a click behind her.

"You there?"

"Who the hell is this?" When she finally spoke, she made herself sound pissed and upset. There was no reason of someone else to call her. It better not be some random ass from her class, she didn’t need any of that right now.

"Braxton."

"What!?" Alex coughed, surprised by who was calling; her cute locker neighbor.

"Braxton…?"

"No, I mean why are you calling me."

"Bored."

There was silence again. So, he called her change that? Jeez, the made her feel much better.

"You were…. Bored? Wow," Her eyes rolled, even though he wouldn’t be able to see it.

"Yeah… and you’re the only one I know at school."

The made her laugh, "Yeah, I bet."

He laughed himself, it was low and husky. She couldn’t help herself thinking that it his voice was sexy on the phone, "okay, you caught me."

"Hell right I did, hurry up and jump to the point. What do you want?" Switching the phone to her left ear, Alex positioned herself against the headboard.

"Well, I actually am bored.."

"And you wanted me to help you with that? Sorry, no can do." She picked at her purple nail polish. It was major chipped bad, she needed to add another coat.

"Shucks."

Alex couldn’t help herself from laughing, "yeah, sorry man. Caught me at the wrong time."

"Fucking terms."

"Yeah, see you tomorrow."

There was a click and she hung up on him. Seeing the phone on the side table, she slipped down under the covers. It was the perfect time to sleep, with Braxton’s voice still in her head. Perhaps having a a cute guy’s voice in her head she’ll have some sweet dreams.
