Michael Jackson's Thriller to Become Broadway Musical

Michael Jackson's Thriller has been purchased by producer James L. Nederlander, whose company intends to turn the legendary music video into a full-length Broadway play.
Finally, some good news for Michael Jackson. The embattled pop icon has recently sold the rights to Thriller to a Broadway production company that will eventually turn the video into a full-length Broadway production. No details have emerged as to when a finished product might hit the stage or who will write the script, etc. But it seems like a natural fit for Broadway and one that should be able to capitalize on the success of the original album and video.

After years of struggling with allegations of child molestation and mounting financial difficulties, perhaps Jacko is finally starting to get some proper career advice and straighten things out. One would assume that Jackson will have an ownership stake in the finished product and that he will play at least a consultancy role during the making of the play. But Nederlander and his company may want to create a clean break from the King of Pop in order to reinvigorate and re-brand Thriller.

The album is now over 25 years old and is little-known to an emerging generation of entertainment consumers. Clearly, Michael Jackson's personal image is beyond repair in the eyes of many. But there is no reason why Thriller can't be re-introduced to the world through Broadway. With the ever-increasing popularity of vampire novels and anything relating to the supernatural and un-dead -- this thing seems like a can't miss proposition.
