Michael Jackson's Brain Being Held for Tests

Michael Jackson's brain, or at least a portion of it, is being held by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, waiting for further testing to be complete.
Michael Jackson's brain isn't resting peacefully with the rest of his body - at least not yet. The LA County Coroner is holding a portion of Jackson's brain to run further testing to help determine what brought on the sudden cardiac arrest that killed the King of Pop.

This is likely part of the reason why no burial plans have been announced for Jackson, even though the public memorial service occurred on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The whereabouts of the rest of his body are not known to the public and such details will likely not be released until a decision has been made as to the location of his final resting place.

The tests being performed on the brain are likely focusing on the possibility of sedatives or other prescription drugs playing a role in his death. As the brain hardens after death, it becomes easier for forensic scientists to determine what drugs were active in the brain at the time of death.

Now the speculation is mounting as to where exactly Jackson is going to be buried and whether or not a formal, permanent memorial will be constructed for the public to pay their continued respects. Shortly after his death, many in the media were speculating that Neverland would become a working monument to Jackson, much in the way that Graceland works for Elvis. But with Jackson's estate and assets in such turmoil, it's unlikely that something like that could be done for several years.
