Michael Jackson: 5 American Music Awards Nominations

The king is back, through his voice, and now with some nominations. Michael Jackson has been nominated for 5 American Music Awards. These include Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock), Favorite Male Artist (Soul/R&B), Favorite Album (Pop/Rock), and Favorite Album (Soul/R&B). The American Music Awards (AMAs) is an annual event just like the Grammy Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Michael has been the best selling artist of the year. And his five nominations are just one less than country singer Taylor Swift who bagged six nominations in all. Unlike the Grammys which are awarded based on votes by members of the entertainment industry, record sales is what determines nominations for the AMAs, although it is online voting that eventually determines the winner. Another major difference between the two is that the AMAs currently do not have an award for Best Single/Record, while the Grammys have this important award. November 22 is when the awards will be presented, and it's left to be seen how his fans respond online and make him a winner once again.
