Mermaid, Sing Your Song
Mermaids (or sirens) are in many of the mythological tales of the ancients. That's why I love them!
Mermaid sing
Your sad sweet song,
It echos in his ears,
Luring, singing, drift along
And tempt him with no fears.
Mortality is not
Worth much, tempt him and
With singing you'll be free
To live forever by the sand,
The fishes and the sea.
Your sisters cries
Will fill the night, to keep you,
Make you stay,
But only one will leave tonight,
As Sirena swims away.
Mortal love
To immortal gain,
But who would ever think
That loving him would cause such pain
As to make you want to sink.
Love forever,
Bold and strong, so fresh
And yet so worn,
As he ages you do not, distress
And ancient scorn.
The irony
Of this cruel fate, his love
What you so yearned,
Is what has caused your ageless grace
Yet love is what gets burned.
