Mermaid Love - Chapter 9
Here. and this should be my longest chapter written !
Romeo
(a few hours of continuous searching)
"You got any luck?" I asked Kyle when I saw him.
Boy, he looked like as if someone had made him work to death.
"So tired.... and no luck at the house or in the area either... But Davids' looking for her too and so are the neighbors, we'll find her" he said.
"Kyle ! Stop resting! I know Dad, Mom and David probably killed you with questions and lectures but stop resting and start looking! That girl can die without water or food!" Danielle came over to me and Kyle with hands on her hips.
"look. you're not the one who got lectured by overprotective parents and brother. You're not the one who was asked to take care of the princess! At least her grandma died or I would really die" Kyle shouted.
No one heard him but I heard it clearly.
"Kyle. I want answers right now! What does your princess have to do with Dawn? And what grandmother?!" I demanded.
He looked at me.
"None of your business" he said, stubbornly.
"You. Go and look for Dawn now and that is an order! You may be under Dawn but for now, you're under me!" Danielle said in an ordering tone.
Kyle reluctantly got up from the bench he was sitting and headed towards a random location. Then Danielle looked at me.
"Look, i'll tell most of the things about Dawn but I need to know and you have to be completely honest, k?" she said in a voice that's barely a whisper.
I nodded.
"Do you really love Dawn? More than your own life?" she asked seriously.
Do I really love Dawn? What an unbelievable question!
"Of course I do... but she hates me now..." I said, looking down.
"Okay... now listen up. Dawn is the princess of a country that I cannot reveal the name. Kyle is her trusted servant/best friend and i'm her sister, also a princess. David is a prince. You get the story... now moving onto grandma... she died when Dawn was only a little girl, about 6 or 7. Those two were close and during the funeral, Dawn ran away from the room. I got Ray, my servant, to follow her and when he came back, he reported to me that she went to a glade or some sort but he wasn't able to follow her successfully so the location of the glade is still unknown..." Danielle said.
Glade? Just then, a small memory triggered at the back of my brain. A memory almost forgotten. I had stumbled upon a little girl crying and she told me that her name was Dawn. Could the Dawn I know be the Dawn I saw at the glade hidden by the forest? I had to make sure.
"When did your grandmother die?" I asked.
"December 12. 10 years ago" Danielle replied back and that was all I needed to know.
I got up from the bench. And started walking towards the glade.
"Romeo! Where are you going?!" Danielle called out.
"You go and look in the park or places that she would normally go!" I said and began picking up my pace.
Dawn

I sang but I somehow couldn't put my feeling into it.
"Dawn! Are you here!?" I heard a voice calling out and my head perked up from the pillow.
Just then, Romeo appeared from behind a few trees, panting as perspiration dotting his forehead.
"So you are here" he smiled.
What the hell was he smiling for?!
"How did you know of this place?" I asked.
I thought it was my own secret glade and now, Romeo just had to burst in and destroy everything.
"I see... so you are the Dawn I met 10 years ago..." he said.
Huh?! !0 years ago was... the time I met R! But Romeo can't be R, right? Please say that Romeo isn't.
Romeo
That day, I met a girl crying. She said that her grandmother passed away. To see a girl cry, it hurts me... so I tried to comfort her. I didn't really have any luck until the river sparkled and that weird voice spoke out. I feel bad though, Dawn was all confused face but I had to laugh cause the whole time I see her, she was always either smiling or crying. Never confused.
"What are you laughing at?" she said, a frown now on her face.
"Nothing... just that your confused face was so cute" I said, stifling a laugh.
"Well, stop laughing if you want me to talk to you" she said stubbornly turning her back on me.
With that, I had to stop my laugh.
"Dawn. You're a princess yet you're so stubborn" I said, I gently turned her around and made her face me.
Lucky she didn't struggle. She kept eye contact with me and I could see in her eyes that she was still angry about the 'fling' kiss.
"I-i-I'm not a p-p-princess! What gotten into your head?" she said, her face turning red.
"Danielle told me" I said simply.
A shocked expression was on her face this time.
"Are you insane?! Trying to get her to tell you?! She's in trouble!" Dawn said and she successfully managed to get her out of my grip.
She started walking towards the exit of the glade and I stretched out my hands, knowing that I only got one chance. I caught her.
"Let me go! Dan might be in trouble!" she struggled as I pulled her back to me and hugged her.
She was crying.
"Hey, don't cry. Tears don't look good on any girl especially a princess" I said.
"You don't understand! Me, Kyle and Dan, we all are sworn to secrecy of our identities so since you already know... don't tell anyone!" she looked at me, tears now streaming down her face.
"Okay, I won't tell anyone" I hugged her again.
She hugged me back.
"Hey, R, right?" she said suddenly.
I almost forgot that R was the name I had given her that time.
"Yeah? What?" I looked at her.
"Why... did you kiss me in the infirmary? I know Kyle said it was a fling but... I wanted to make sure" she said.
"Why did you ruin the moment?" I whined but paused for a while.
"I only told Kyle it was a fling.... My true feelings..." I said and my hand cupped Dawn's chin.
Slowly, gently, I kissed her. She kissed me back. Yahoo! I was on Cloud nine! Then she pulled away.
"What did I ever do wrong, Dawn? Tell me!" I urged.
"It's nothing. I ... don't know..." she said.
"Dawn... what's wrong?" I continued asking her.
"okay, fine! I'm not human!" she burst out.
"Not human? Then what are you?" I asked calmly.
Suddenly she dived into the water. I dived after her. But when I reached underwater, Dawn was nowhere to be seen. Only a mermaid. But her features... They're the same as Dawn. No way.... Dawn is a mermaid?! Just then, I began to loose my conscious. I quickly swam up to the surface and took a breath of air.
"Romeo. Are you okay?" the mermaid said, worriedly.
"So you're a mermaid... I can't believe I said that mermaids don't exists when the love of my life is one! Wait, does that mean... that Kyle and Danielle are mermaids as well?" she nodded.
"um..." she started but we were interrupted by a noise.
"No way... is that you, Dawn?" a girl and a boy said.
They were also in the water... more mermaids?!
"Oh my god... she just revealed the fact that she's a mermaid to a human!" the boy gasped and the girl, shocked, quickly swam towards Dawn.
"What are you thinking?! Dawn!" Dawn began to sparkle.
"No way... she's really turning into bubbles..." the boy said.
Bubbles?!
"Dawn! Come back! We'll erase the boy's memories so please come back as the princess of the North Pacific Ocean!" the girl was now begging, tears running down her face.
"What's going on here? Lily, Paolo?" more mermaids began to emerge out of the water.
This time, they were wearing crowns. I could easily spot David but who were the other two.
"David! It's terrible!" the girl, I think her name's Lily, said, still crying.
"What's wrong, Lily?" David asked, when he finally saw me.
"What's a human..." he started.
"Now isn't the time to be worrying about that! Dawn's about to turn into bubbles in mere seconds unless we do something!" Paolo said.
"What?1 My daughter revealed the secret to a human?!" the older looking mermaid, the queen if she says that Dawn is her daughter I suppose, said.
"You. Human. What's your name?" the male beside the queen demanded.
"Romeo! Oh my god... mom... dad... Lily... Paolo...!" Danielle burst through the river.
"Danielle! Explain this!" David demanded, now with tears.
"Wait. We can only save our princess if the human she revealed it too... becomes a mermaid as well... right?" Lily asked and everyone looked at her.
"So? Do you want to become a mermaid?" the king said.
I looked at Danielle.
"Please, Romeo. Save Dawn..." she got tears in her eyes now.
I nodded at the king and he raised a trident at me and soon, I felt a tingling sensation. When the feeling was over, I raised my legs to see that they were replaced by a mermaid tail!
"No way... the golden tail..." Danielle pointed out and indeed, my tail was gold but why were they staring at me like that?
A giggle was heard and everyone, including me, turned towards the voice. Dawn! With a golden tail!
"Wow... you're tails' golden" she said.
"Okay... Danielle... get Kyle to come over here-." David was interrupted with a voice.
"I'm right here" Kyle began swimming towards us.
"Kyle!" Dawn began swimming towards Kyle.
"Look! Romeo's got a golden tail! He's a mermaid!" she said joyfully and Kyle finally saw me and he was shocked.
"Romeo. Can I talk to you for a sec? In private?" Kyle saw towards me and I nodded.
"I finally realized. I can't get Dawn to smile the way you do... so ... I'm handing her to you..." he said.
"For real?" I asked in utter disbelief.
Kyle nodded.
"But if she cries just because of you, you better watch out cause the whole country will after you" he warned.
"So friends?" I took out my hand and he shook his hand with mine.
"How about Best friends? Since you know the secret already?" he said.
I nodded and I felt Dawn swimming towards us.
