There are many menu ideas for a graduation party. Decide whether you are planning to prepare the dishes at home or you would be making the sides dishes and ordering the main course from outside.
While planning the menu see that it does not take a toll on you. Hence keep the menu simple. Do not serve more than five different dishes. A common mistake most of us make is serving too many items.
Once you have decided on the time of the party, plan out the menu accordingly. Remember, if you are holding a weekend brunch graduation party, have a simple menu of freshly baked bagels, buns and croissants. You could offer various types of spreads. Pancakes would be an instant hit with the youngsters. Serve it with various types of toppings and syrups. Fresh doughnuts are a favorite among teenagers. Do not forget to serve cold drinks or fresh juice. Fruit salad or iced lemonade would be an ideal idea on a hot day.
If the graduation party is on arranged in the afternoon, try sandwiches and BBQ chicken along with salads such as coleslaw, baked bean salad or green salad. Serve ample quantity of chips and fruit yogurt. Remember to serve fruit salad as a part of main course.
If you are not health conscious, serve a spicy ground beef with lettuce, soft cheese, olives and onions. In a serving bowl arrange Mexican tacos as an accompaniment.
Baked macaroni with cheese is an Italian dish loved by most of the youngsters and the adults. This dish could be baked a day before the party and refrigerated. You can simply microwave it before serving or it could be served cold.
Do not forget about the dessert. Ice cream is a most popular dessert. You could serve vanilla ice cream with various toppings. A spoon of chocolate syrup, fruits or dry nuts would make delicious toppings.
Cheese and lemon cakes, chocolate soufflés or a tray of assorted cookies and candy would also make a wonderful dessert.
Remember to provide water to people who do not like fizzy drinks. It would be best to avoid drinks with a high alcohol content. It is a summer tradition to serve iced sweet lemonade or lemon tea. Keep extra table napkins and kitchen paper towels. If possible, serve food on paper plates else use unbreakable plates.
There are many menu ideas for a graduation party. Plan your menu according to the type of crowd you are planning to invite. If the food is arranged through a caterer make sure to meet him to discuss about the menu items and the budget.
