More people are introduced. With them comes tons of drama!
Part 9.
Vicky was surprised by how much Dave could talk. He really had a standing on the war in Iraq. In a short while Vicky found out that he actually had a planned future.
It was well passed one when they were bombarded by the metallic click and the following drunk boys.
"Eyyy …. Harrison grumbled along with the dragging feet. First they collapsed on the couches. (All except Grey and Kenny, though Kenny looked VERY tired.)
"If I say I’ll go with the guy please stop me." Kenny said to relatively to no one.
"I will not be a baby sitter, ‘Cesply when some of them are bigger than me."
"Well it’s not their fault you’re so small." She added noticing Kenny wasn’t in the mood. He looked like he was about to pass out and really soon. Only by seeing him Vicky knew he had no fun. Then she felt her own state. Was she that sleepy? She didn’t notice because of talking with Dave.
I wonder if he’s as a good kisser as he is talker. She then mentally smacked herself.
I don’t even like him like that, I love Jeremy. JEREMY!!! What’s gotten over me?
Plus, not that it matters, there’s a good chance Dave even isn’t single.
The boys felt her perfuse anger radiating around her. (Even in their state? Lame. )
"Hey, Vic-." Kenny started orderly. "Stop calling me that!" she snapped. She made her own head hurt.
"Okay Vicky. Chill." He said in a pressed sigh. "Oh, oh okay…." She barely remembered that Dave could very well hear her. "Why does the Y at the end of your name matter so much? Anyway don’t answer that. Tell Suzy May that we’ll be staying here." "Oh, oh okay." Vicky bottled up the emotions that so longed to leak out in poisonous words. Dave she thought. No, No, not Dave, Jeremy. I will think purely of Jeremy.
She ventured to Suzy May’s room, her cousin that had been hiding herself behind meaningless homework. Who does homework? I don’t honestly, yet I still pass.
And why does Kenny call Suzy May, Suzy May? Her name has a Y at the end and yet mine doesn’t? Suz sounds more girly than Vic. Vic could be Victor or Vincent. Guy names and Suz sounds, well like Suzy.
I shook my head at the dumbness of it.
Aaaaahhhhh, Kenny had an odd hold on me. Like the older brother I never had.
"Suzy May? Can I come in?" Vicky said without knocking on the door she stood in front.
"Yeah, might as well. I’m every lonely." She sounded wide awake. "You sure?" "Why would I ask you otherwise?" her cute twang rang clearly.
Vicky shrugged not thinking she couldn’t see it.
"What you doing?" then she leaned over Suzy May to look at her laptop. Suzy May didn’t try to hide. She was on a dating online site, ‘never thought her that way. Not that it’s bad it’s just, she seemed Okie with being independent. Guess I didn’t know her that well. (Or she changed.) The thought sickened my center. Why was that a bad thought? ‘Cause nothing EVER changes in this huge family that tries to be small and comforting. It just never changed, the only thing that changed were the people playing those certain roles.
Like Chelsea was turning into Aunt Wendy. (Both have many men and flirt.)
Or Kenny is like the funny understanding, (thought Kenny tries to hide it and he does that well.) Uncle Sal. Then again who can compare them self to another person?’ Vicky had a mental conversation with herself.
"What ya thinking?" Suzy May look of suspicion was obvious. "Why are you dating online?" Vicky clouded Suzy May’s question with her own.
"It’s, hummm, more, well, I don’t know. Easier and less emotional." Suzy May said wrinkling her forehead in utter confusion. "What is this a low degree of booty call?" Vicky’s mouth spoke before her and she suddenly felt icky." ‘I can’t believe I just said that!’ Vicky waited for Suzy May’s roar. (Like any of her family members would react. It’s the norm.) "Yeah, it must seem like that." Suzy May’s voice was tinged with an unbearable sadness. "So have you been on a date?" Vicky was earnest about the words that fell between them. The truth was that the both of them were changing apart from the fam. If Suzy May noticed it or not.
"Sadly; it’s been horrible. I do not recommend it." Suzy May’s pure emerald eyes gleamed; even if she didn’t want them to at the moment. She wanted the repressed oddness the dates caused her.
"Still it sounds intriguing." Vicky plopped down on the double bed across the room. "Far from, first there was a hapless nerd Darren, not that I impose that, then this guy Juan." She stopped to sneer. (Which she never did.)
"That guy took me to a church service. A catholic one. Do I look like a catholic? Oh!" her eyes got big. Vicky had NEVER seen Suzy May act like this.
"And this guy Manny, he was cute but….." Suzy May held out her marrying finger.
"oh." I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and I just had a date with this hot guy named Andres. I’m thinking about a second date. Oh and I have this friend guy that now that I’m thinking about; might like ya." Vicky’s quizzled face was hilarious.
"I’m taken, definitely." Vicky thought of Jeremy.
"What’s his name?" Suzy May look mocked doubtfulness but trustily it was jealousy.
Suzy May? Like that? This was getting weird. I can’t wait to talk to Kenny about this. Vicky suddenly was reminded of the boys.
"I know this is off topic but Kenny wanted me to tell that the boys are staying here tonight."
" ‘Kay. Bout time huh?" Suzy May went to the window and drew the curtains.
"Ya can stay here. There’s room and no one wants ya to sleep with drunkard bad boys in the room." Suzy May smiled.
"okay." Vicky was tired. Then the both fell asleep despite the mere howls in the distance. The lone wolf was looking for something. ‘What? What was I looking for?’ Both were the girls last thought that the probable wouldn’t recall in the morning.
Part 10.
"Since Roxanne died; I can’t keep this guilt that has long been hidden." Daddy said, leaning on his good knee. ‘Mother had just died a few short months ago. All our wounds were still unhealed. ‘Besides that the topic of mom had been excluded.
‘It was a taboo to simply speak of her. And we thought Daddy would be the most broken. Now he spoke so freely. It sickened most people. ‘If I had no respect then I would have been the same gloomy face that repeated on my close relatives faces.’ "Maggie." Kit lightly nudged Maggie’s shoulder lending her out of her own deep mourning world.
"I have two other children from another woman. I don’t know their names only that they live in South Carolina." Daddy’s outspoken words echoed. "No, you’re lying." When Uncle Bran noticed what daddy was saying was the truth he shouted "You never told your brother?" "It can’t be." Travis headed was down when he said that. Kit held to my arm.
"That and ….." Maggie could very well see the resistant in Daddy’s wise eyes thought fought themselves. She wanted to tell him ‘you can us anything.’ But she didn’t want to believe what he was saying was real. This was too fucked up to be a joke. She thought. Mother is dead. Will I ever let that go?
"That Kit, Travis, Simon, Ben; you …." He broken then continued. "You guys aren’t ….. My kids. Only Maggie here is." No one breathed.
What? The word was mouthed still no one uttered it. It just couldn’t be. It was a lie.
"Who are they?" Maggie’s voice raised somewhere within her. She couldn’t see quite right.
Daddy was too crushed to even hear her.
She ran. Maggie Jordan ran to South Carolina for answers. Maybe she could run from it, the eating feeling of death and a twisting hate of the unproven.
