Men are Still Embarrassed to Talk to Their Doctors About ED
Nearly every man alive will experience erectile dysfunction at some point in his life, but it’s estimated that four out of 10 men are still embarrassed to discuss the problem with their doctors.
Almost every man will experience it at some point. It will be time for the moment of truth in the bedroom, and, uh-oh, the unit will decide to shut down. Nothing is more embarrassing, disheartening or degrading for a guy than when his gear won’t deploy. It’s called erectile dysfunction, or ED.
Although in the past decade a revolutionary advancement has made it possible for a man to regain his sexual stamina with erectile dysfunction drugs such as Viagra , Levitra or Cialis. Trouble is, a lot of guys still don’t want to admit they have a problem. Their life in the bedroom (if they have a life at all) is pretty much kaput not only because of failure to launch, but failure to lock and load to begin with. And when they refuse to talk to someone about it, or take advantage of today’s discreet new technology to use an online pharmacy... well, they’re just missing the boat.
So now, more than a decade after Pfizer brought Viagra to market and brought erectile dysfunction out of the closet, a new survey says many men are still so embarrassed to talk about ED that they won’t discuss it with their doctors. The study, paid for by Cialis manufacturer Eli Lilly, says that nearly 40 percent of men have never discussed the subject with their doctors, although eight out of 10 men know ED could be a symptom of serious health problems.
It’s almost hard to imagine that, in the 21st century, men would be embarrassed to discuss what is a real medical problem. But there are many reasons for this reluctance. The main one, of course, is male pride. Not many men want to be honest enough to admit that their masculinity may be threatened by the inability to achieve an erection and satisfy their partner. Another reason can be cultural. In American culture, of course, it’s an embarrassment for a guy to admit he can’t get an erection when he’s surrounded by our testosterone-fueled society of bodybuilding governors and seemingly invincible macho movie stars. Who wants to admit he can’t get it up after his date has just spent two hours watching Richard Gere make out with a heroine or Sly Stallone ripping the heads off bad guys and saving the world? How do regular guys compete with that?
The answer, of course, is that we can’t, but somehow we need to keep our self-confidence. And when a man loses that confidence because he can’t keep it up, he can lose himself completely. Thankfully, there is now help, even if it is through chemical means. Today’s men have to accept the fact that they’re living longer, and that they won’t always be able to have sex the way they did when they were in their 20’s. So if a pill is what it’s going to take to save a man’s love life, his own self-esteem may well end up being dependent upon his willingness to swallow his pride and accept the alternative in pill form.
The bottom line is this: if you have ED, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. And you can get help through an online pharmacy, where you can order ED drugs as well as a host of other pharmaceuticals. There is help out there. Don’t be afraid to ask for it.
