Melanie Griffith has Entered Rehab in Utah
Melanie Griffith has checked into rehab for a reported third time, with rumors noting that she is again struggling with alcohol addiction.
Melanie Griffith, continuing a long battle with alcohol, has entered a private rehabilitation facility in Utah to seek treatment and regain her health. Griffith, who is 52 years old, is to receive treatment in the Cirque Lodge, a popular facility with celebrities that has also seen visits from Kirsten Dunst and Lindsay Lohan. Thus far, the reason for Griffith’s admission to the upscale rehabilitation center has not been disclosed, but it is rumored that her old foe, alcohol, is to blame.
A representative for Griffith, Robin Baum, noted, "She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy. This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctor years ago." Despite the spin, there are sources that are claiming that Griffith is struggling with alcohol addiction. Griffith, who is married to actor Antonio Banderas, has had a long and public battle with alcohol in the past. A source close to the couple noted that, "She’s working with the counselors on getting control of her demons. The reason Melanie checked in was her husband was demanding that she get clean and sober."
Yet another source said that "Melanie’s struggling right now, but Antonio has been checking in on her as much as he is allowed, making sure she gets back on her feet." Griffith spent time in rehab in 1998 and in 2000 to kick an addiction to prescription painkillers. She is rumored to have struggled with alcohol issues throughout the 1970s and 1980s, but despite that has had a relatively successful movie career.
