Mel Gibson Set to Appear in The Hangover 2
The much-anticipated sequel to The Hangover will include Mel Gibson playing a tattoo artist in Bangkok.
It seems Mel Gibson still has some friends in pretty high places if he is going to score a cameo in the upcoming sequel, The Hangover 2. With the success of the first film, Hangover 2 is going to be a box office hit, even if the movie turns out to be poorly made. Zach Galifianakis has already blown up to become one of the most visible actors in Hollywood. It seems like he is in at least half of the movies currently in theaters.
Industry insiders are looking for an appearance from Mel Gibson that will look much like the role that Mike Tyson played in the original Hangover in 2009. Tyson, like Gibson, was generally disliked by the public, or at the very least misunderstood. Tyson's role in the movie turned out to be a turning point for the former boxing champ and convicted felon. Since appearing in The Hangover, Tyson seems to have softened his image and has appeared as a comedic presence in a couple television commercials as well.
Even though Tyson served significant jail time for rape and has a disconcerting facial tattoo that is off-putting to most people, he may be a more sympathetic character than Mel Gibson at this point. Gibson has managed to tear down one of the greatest careers in Hollywood history with his bizarre behavior over the years.
After being linked to claims of anti-Semitism and possibly denying the existence of the Holocaust, Gibson was recorded during a racial tirade during a traffic stop. Now, his former girlfriend and mother of one of his children has released several recordings of Gibson leaving voice messages containing very overt threats and disturbing language. Gibson seems more like an angry drunk at this point than a celebrity.
