Mel B’s Baby Spice

It has been reported that former Spice Girl Melanie Brown a.k.a. Mel B or Scary Spice delivered a healthy baby girl on Tuesday.

A rep for Brown, 31, released a statement that read, "The baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair. Mother and baby are now resting. No name has been decided on yet and she is purely known as Baby Brown." The baby was born just after midnight at Saint Jude’s Hospital in Santa Monica and weighed in at 5 pounds, 4 ounces. Brown has an 8-year old daughter, Phoenix Chi, with her ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar. Her mother said that "both mother and baby are expected to leave the hospital in a few days and are looking forward to going back home."

Now the fun game of "he-said-she-said" begins. Brown says that her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy is the father of the baby. Murphy says different. In December when asked during an interview on a Dutch TV show about how he felt about the pregnancy Murphy said, "I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions, sir." At the time Brown said she was "upset and distressed" by Murphy’s comments.

Brown said, "There is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father. I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way." Brown and Murphy briefly dated after his divorce from Nicole Mitchell was finalized in April. The couple reportedly broke up in October and Murphy began seeing Babyface’s ex-wife, Tracey Edmunds. Reportedly, a source said that Brown did not tell Murphy about the birth of the baby and said, "He can read about it." It is kind of funny that the baby was born on Murphy’s 46th birthday.
