Marinated Steak

Different herbs, spices, wine, vinegar, etc. are used for marinating steak. These ingredients add the right amount of flavor to a steak, tenderize it and also bring out the natural flavors and juices from the steak. A steak that is perfectly marinated has improved texture and moistness without sacrificing on any of the meat's own natural flavor. To make a steak marinade there are many choices, including wet and dry marinades. One of the tips to marinate steak is not to use too many marinade ingredients, so that the natural flavors of meat are retained.

Marinated Steak Recipes

Most of the steak recipes can be used for any cut of beef, but they are best to be used on steak. When the ingredients are combined together and are given sufficient amount of time to blend, it will give your tender, juicy piece of meat.

Steak Marinade Recipe # 1
This is one of the basic, yet best steak marinade recipes, which can be used to marinate a steak.

Ingredients
  • Red Wine Vinegar 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato Paste 1 tablespoon
  • Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons
  • Whole grain Mustard 1 teaspoon
  • Soy Sauce ½ teaspoon
  • Dash of Freshly Ground Pepper
  • Chili Seasoning a pinch
  • Chopped Fresh Rosemary few sprigs
  • Garlic 2 cloves
Method
Rub garlic on the steak and press the garlic cloves into the meat. In a resealable bag, combine red wine vinegar, tomato paste, brown sugar, whole grain mustard, soy sauce, pepper, seasoning and rosemary and mix well. Add the steak pieces to the bag and shake the bag well, so that all the sides of the steak are well coated with the marinade. Press out all the air from the bag and reseal the bag. Now place the bag in the refrigerator for at least 2 to 3 hours before grilling the steak.

Steak Marinade Recipe # 2
If you do not have the time to run to the supermarket to bring in the ingredients and want to use the ingredients present at home, this is the recipe for you. Instead of the red wine, you can also make use of chicken or beef broth, combined with 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar to get the perfect marinade for the steaks.

Ingredients
  • Garlic Cloves 6
  • Olive Oil 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh Thyme Leaves 2 tablespoons
  • Red Wine ½ cup
  • Salt and Pepper as per taste
Method
Coarsely chop the garlic cloves and then smash them. In a mixing bowl, combine garlic, olive oil, red wine and thyme and mix well. Now add steaks to the bowl and turn them to coat well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the steak for 2 to 4 hours, but ensure you do turn the steaks occasionally. Grill it as per your choice

Steak Marinade Recipe # 3
This is a unique recipe of making steak marinade.

Ingredients
  • Chicken Broth ½ cup
  • Honey ½ cup
  • Soy Sauce ¼ cup
  • Ketchup 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger ¼ teaspoon
  • Garlic Powder 1 teaspoon
Method
In a saucepan heat chicken broth. Once it comes to a boil add honey and stir to mix well. Now add the remaining ingredients to the sauce pan. Remove the sauce pan from heat and marinate the steaks in it overnight.

How to Cook Marinated Steak

For cooking, remove the steak from the resealable bag, but do not discard the marinade. Do not remove the herbs which stick to the meat. Cut the steak into two pieces and sprinkle generous amount of salt and pepper on it. Place the steak on grill and let it grill for 15 to 20 minutes on high heat until the outside the steak is seared. Use the marinade from the bag to baste the steak, when it cooks or it can also be used as a sauce with the steak.

If you have marinated steak, you can also generate your own recipes, like salad recipe, etc. I always grill steak before I use it in salads and use the marinade as a sauce to accompany the steak.
