Manson, 38, said in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, "I’ve found my double, my twin, with my new girlfriend, Evan Rachel Wood." He went on to say, "She’s 19 and certainly that’s very young, but that’s not a problem for me. She likes the same things as me. She understands I like to get up when night falls and go to sleep at dawn." Manson, real name Brian Warner, was recently in France promoting his latest album Eat Me, Drink Me. He said that the inspiration for his sixth album was depression and his separation from wife Dita Von Teese, 29, last year.
Manson said of Von Teese, "Our relationship ended at Halloween. I was completely destroyed psychologically. I’d rented a house and begun working on this disc, which sort of tells everything that happened to me during the last year." Manson and Von Teese were married in December 2005 and split one year later. Von Teese, born Heather Sweet, filed for divorce on December 29, 2006 citing "irreconcilable differences." At first it was reported that Von Teese left Manson because he was drinking excessively and "unresponsive" to her or making their marriage work. It was later rumored that his relationship with Wood caused the split.
Manson said, "I was married to someone who wanted me to change. Become more adult, more responsible. I began to not like myself, not like what I do. I lost my identity. Everything began collapsing around me. The record allowed me to put an end to that. Dita left at Christmas while I was recording." Another solution would be to just date someone young enough to consider that lifestyle cool…enter Wood. The two met when she starred in his movie Phantasmagoria: The Visions of Lewis Carroll. The film will be out in October.
