Carey, 38, and Cannon, 27, were married in an intimate ceremony on Wednesday at Carey’s home in the Bahamas. The couple initially remained mum on the marriage rumors, but Carey confirmed the rumors Wednesday. She reportedly said, "We really do feel we are soul mates. I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me." Cannon said, "She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside." Carey also reportedly got "Mrs. Cannon" tattooed on her back before the ceremony.
The couple met in late March when Cannon was hired to appear in Carey’s video for her new single "Bye Bye." Cannon has reportedly said that they clicked instantly. He said, "From the first time we sat down to discuss the video at the Beverly Hills Hotel, we connected. We had so much in common spiritually, and we laugh at the same things. I didn’t have to put on my Mac Daddy suave mode. I was able to be myself with her. We are both eternally 12 years old." The couple quickly hit it off and Carey raised eyebrows when she was spotted sporting a huge engagement ring at the premiere of her new movie Tennessee at the Tribeca Film Festival.
The couple had only a dozen guests at their sunset wedding. Carey said, "The whole wedding was really beautiful and sweet. Being there with loved ones under the sky…it was a spiritual moment." The couple even said that they are thinking of having children. Carey was previously married to record exec Tommy Mottola from 1993-1997. This is the first marriage for Cannon, but he was previously engaged to Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks.
