Manchester United Get a Child Prodigy!
One of the premier football clubs in English football, Manchester United recently won a long drawn battle after obtaining an international transfer certificate from Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) for 16-year old Paul Pogba. In case you are a Manchester United fanatic, you would not want to miss this piece of news!
The gloom over the Old Trafford outfit and the suspense amongst its fans was lifted as soon as the word spread about Paul Pogba. The 16-year old French teenager has been given a green signal by FIFA, to be transferred from the French club Le Havre to Manchester United FC. Le Havre and Manchester United, both battled it out for some time before this transfer was certified.
In fact, against the background of recent circumstances, where Chelsea has been given a transfer ban covering 2 windows by FIFA, Pogba's transfer must be a relief for United. Although Le Havre accused Manchester United of poaching and luring the teenager away from the club, the judge appointed by FIFA, ruled in United's favour. The argument which tilted the balance in favor of the Old Trafford, was that Pogba, because of his age, could not have qualified to sign a professional contract with Le Havre. The judge further stated that Pogba is an amateur, as he only got normal expenses playing for Le Havre.
In this connection, a statement released by Manchester United said, "Manchester United are pleased to confirm that the Football Association has been authorised by Fifa to register Paul Pogba as a Manchester United player with immediate effect". An infuriated Jean-Pierre Louvel, President of Le Havre, was reported to have said, "France respects a certain number of rules, but English clubs do not respect anything." He had charged Manchester United with bribing Pogba's parents and offering an exorbitant amount to play for them. At the end of the controversial transfer, United has been acquitted of any accusations of defying or breaching FIFA's regulation on protection of minors.
Thankfully, at least for now, Pogba can breathe easy and so can the worried Old Trafford outfit. The English club can now select Pogba at any level. But all said and done, there seem to be signs that Le Havre are not going to sit tight. On Friday, a spokesman from the club told The Daily Mail that, "FIFA have not 'validated' the transfer of Paul Pogba but have, as they always do in these situations, issued a provisional international certificate."
Now the Red Devils will have to wait and watch and fight the devil which they have almost created.
Defenders required, for Manchester United, any takers?
