Manchester Prep: Good Girls Gone Bad

Chapter 25. It has been over a month since Malayka left Beau. How is she coping with life after love?
Classes were well under way at Manchester Prep and autumn was upon the socialites. It didn’t take long for word to get out that Beau Beecham and Sloane Forrester were an item again. Malayka was beginning to disappear from the rumor mill now that she kept to herself. And if that wasn’t enough, Sloane returned to be Scarlett’s partner in crime along with Madison and sometimes Frankie.

In Chandler Hall, Oliver was lying on his bed in only jeans, checking e-mail on his laptop. Four more messages from Genevieve and Amelia about a possible rendezvous over winter break. After the amazing sex-filled summer he’d had after the break-up with Raleigh, he couldn’t believe he didn’t do it sooner. There was a knock at his door.

"It’s open!" he shouted.

Natalie walked into the room. "Oh, I was looking for Elliot. Is he around the dorm?"

Oliver sat up casually and took his laptop to his desk. "I believe he’s in the library for the night. Is it an emergency?"

"No," she replied, noticing Ollie’s chiseled 8-pack and the light dirty blonde trail of hair leading down his pants. "I’m, um…I was. I’ll just...uh. What was I saying?"

He chuckled softly and mischievously. She may be Raleigh’s friend, but he didn’t care and she was kinda hot. "I think you were just about to watch a movie with me."

Natalie blushed and began to turn for the door. "Oh, I couldn’t. I really should go study for this exam."

Oliver reached the door before her and gently closed it shut. "Please, I insist. And I won’t take ‘no’ for an answer." He grinned and gazed into her eyes.

"Well, I guess I could stay for a bit," she surrendered.

He took her hand in his and led her to the bed. "Excellent choice."

I know Scarlett was absolutely pleased Beau and I were done. She and Sloane were practically joined at the hip. It was difficult to see Sloane and Beau together around the campus. I sat in my dorm and went through memorabilia of our relationship. Pictures, notes, and other little gifts. I stared at a photo of us in Spain. The man holding me on the beach, he’s not the same man I know now. The tears were burning in the back of my eyes, but I kept them at bay. No more would be shed for that cheating liar. I took all of the items and threw them into a storage container and shoved it in the back of my closet. Bre and Hunter came in and saw me at my desk.

"Oh hey, Malayka," Aubrey greeted me. "Do you want some privacy?"

"No, no. I’m just heading out to the library. I’ll be back later tonight."

"Ok. Love you," she called out as I headed out the door.

"You too."

Aubrey watched her roommate leave and couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. "I don’t know how she does it."

Hunter, who was absorbed in planting kisses on his girlfriend’s neck, gave her a puzzled look. "Who does what?"

"Malayka. She’s been putting on this brave face, but I can tell that seeing Beau around with Sloane must be so hard for her."

"Babe, it’s been over a month. Maybe she has moved on. She’s a big girl." He pulled her back down onto her bed into his embrace. "Give her a little more credit."

Bre smirked optimistically. "You’re probably right. I guess I’m just a little overprotective of her. She is my best friend."

"Understandable," he replied with a grin. "But now, your boyfriend wants a little over-affection if that’s alright with you."

She smiled as she smashed her lips against his in raging passion.

I got to the library and sat in the stacks at a double sided desk. I was working on some chemistry my worst class. I was trying to focus on a paragraph, but the person on the other side of the desk was clicking their gum obnoxiously. I peeked over the side. "Excuse me. Do you mind not doing that?"

Sloane stuck her big brunette head up to look at me. "How about you get over it? Add it to your list right behind Beau." She smirked.

Asshole move. "Good one, Sloane. Did you learn that from your gold digging whore of a mother? Or your perverted pedophile of a father?" She shot me a dirty look. Just then, Beau walked in with Carson.

"Hey baby," Sloane cooed boastingly.

Beau noticed me, but gave Sloane a kiss anyway. I felt incredibly awkward.

Carson watched the scene before him and realized this could be the opportunity he’d been waiting for. "You ready to go to the pool, Malayka?"

Beau looked at Carson highly confused and Sloane was highly upset.

I didn’t know exactly what Carson was up to but, I played along anyway. "Yea, you’re late."

"I know, but better late than never," Carson joked, glad that she went along with his plans.

"Did I miss something?" Beau asked.

I replied rudely while gathering my things, "Nothing that concerns you really." Both Beau and Sloane gave me rather disgusted glances.

"I’ve got other plans," Carson explained to Beau. "I’ll catch you in the room later." He turned his attention to me. "Shall we?"

"Oh, we shall. Lead the way, captain," I flirted and followed him to the exit.

Beau watched Carson escort Malayka out of the library. He was almost positive they were holding hands on the way out the door.

"Hello? Earth to Beau?" Sloane shouted. "What was that all about?"

Beau snapped back to reality. "Oh, I don’t know. Let’s get out of here."

Sloane noticed his absentmindedness. Damn that Malayka, Sloane thought. She wasn’t even with Beau anymore and was still causing shit. When was this girl ever going to lie down and die?

[Somewhere else in the library] Elliot was ready to give up studying for the upcoming AP European History exam when a flash of red hair across the room caught his eye. She was searching for a book in the stacks, wearing a smoke colored Robert Rodriguez drawstring cashmere pullover, a white Vince slouchy scoop neck tee, and DIESEL ‘Matic’ skinny jeans. Elliot stood up from his chair and crept over to the stacks, leaning against the wall behind her.

"I never pegged you for a bookworm," he teased, seeing the many books in her arms.

Startled, Francesca turned around quickly and sighed when she saw Elliot. "Well, I never thought you to be a stalker. But here we are."

Elliot smirked wolfishly. "Ouch, Frankie. You’re breaking my heart." He pretended to clutch at his chest in pain.

She scoffed and shook her head. "What do you want, El?"

"Just the pleasure of your company. Honestly. I’m studying for this Euro exam and I could use a breath of fresh air." He could see her debating his offer by the look on her face. "It’s only a cup of coffee from the library café, maybe even a scone."

Frankie smiled at his weak joke and accepted the offer. Yes, she has Blake, but it’s only coffee. And it’s Elliot, for Pete’s sake. "Fine, but you’re paying."

"I wouldn’t have it any other way," Elliot replied. With the amount of dough he was rolling in now that he was 18, he could buy her an entire coffee franchise if she wanted it.

On the way to the café, Frankie noticed Malayka and Carson walking hand-in-hand out of the library. What the hell was going on between them? We’re they together? Frankie shook the thought from her mind quickly. There’s no way that Malayka would get with Carson after what they knew he was capable of doing.

I dove into the pool and the water felt absolutely freeing against my skin. "My knight in shining armor came to my rescue."

Carson chuckled sexily. "Don’t tell anybody I have a heart. I’d have to kill you. And that’d be a shame."

"Ha. And why’s that?"

"Cause I was starting to like you," he divulged as he lazily backstroked around me.

I smiled and watched him effortlessly glide in the water. "It would be such a bad idea for us to be anything more than friends. Especially after this whole breakup."

"Whoa. Who said I wanted to be with you?" he immediately spoke with the most serious expression.

I splashed him. "Ah! Jerk!"

"I was joking!" He wiped the water from his face while laughing and continued. "But really, who says we can’t be the manipulative Manchester students we are and pretend?"

I pondered the idea. "Hmm, pretend to date? For the sole purpose of what? Do you really think Beau would get jealous?"

"I know it’d eat at him that I got with his ex-girl. But…it’s all up to you," he shrugged.

I thought about how heartbroken I was and all the pain Beau put me through. I wanted him to feel it right back. "Ok. I’m in."

Carson swam over to me, close to my body. "Alright, but this means total commitment. You’ve got to be completely convincing, which means you gotta take the kiss."

I moved into him even more, close enough to see each individual bead of water roll down his beautifully sculpted chest. "I’m 100% in for this. All or nothing." …
