Generally, they are graduates or post graduates in subjects related to business management, economics, etc. More than anything else, reaching a top position like that of a managing director require years of experience in the respective field at lower and middle level managerial positions. For working at this reputed designation in fields like health care, law, finance and others, it is very helpful if the person has either graduation or post graduation or additional certificates related to those fields. They must have effective decision making and excellent communication skills. Being a creative problem solver and having multitasking abilities are always the strengths of a managing director.

Since "management" is the buzzword today, there is no dearth of career opportunities for managers who want to climb up the ladder from middle level managers to senior managing directors.
