The unidentified man, described as an African-American man in his 40’s, was found dead on the property next to Rhames’ Brentwood home early Friday morning. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they were called to the home at approximately 7:15 a.m. where the man was found with bite marks all over his body. The man allegedly jumped a fence next door after the attack. The man reportedly worked for the actor for two years as a groundskeeper and he also tended to the actor’s four dogs.

Los Angeles Police Officer Sandra Gonzalez said that animal control removed four dogs from the actor’s property. Captain Matt Blake of the LAPD said, " We removed three mastiffs and one bulldog – they were the size of lions – from Rhames’ property, but we have no solid evidence that they were the cause of death." The animals have reportedly been taken to an animal shelter and are being examined.

Rhames, 48, was not at home at the time of the alleged attack. He is reportedly filming The Tournament in the U.K. According to California law dog owners are liable for dog attacks, but as of right now no charges have been filed. The case is still being investigated. Rhames has appeared in numerous films including Pulp Fiction, the Mission: Impossible trilogy, Out of Sight, and Striptease. Most recently he starred in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Rhames’ camp has yet to release a statement about the events that took place at his home.
