Making Wedding Invitation Decisions
Whenever people get married they tend to forget how important the wedding invitation is. There are many factors to consider whenever picking out the invitations that will make the process time consuming. Putting this task off to the last minute is a common occurrence and can easily be avoided.
When planning a wedding sometimes couples put off picking out wedding invitations. This is a huge mistake because, like many other aspects of wedding planning, invitations need to be well thought out and ordered early.
Picking out the paper, font, and format of wedding invitations should not be done on a whim. A wedding invitation is the first glimpse that guests will get into the wedding itself. The style and tone of the wedding invitation should set the style and tone of the wedding. If a wedding is going to be a casual, outdoor ceremony, the invitations should reflect that. If a wedding is going to be a black tie event held in the evening, that style should be reflected as well.
There are so many other things to consider when picking out wedding invitations. These decisions range from whether or not you will need reception cards, to whether or not the bride and groom's parents' names will be included on the invitations. Another consideration is whether or not to order matching thank you cards.
Furthermore, regardless of where wedding invitations are ordered from, couples need to give the printer plenty of time to print them. Printers have many commitments on their hands and work hard to meet everyone's deadlines, but giving them too short of a notice will likely result in more stress for everyone involved.
A general rule of thumb when mailing wedding invitations to guests is to do so about six weeks before the wedding (eight weeks if guests are going to be traveling to come to the wedding). Keep this in mind when ordering wedding invitations. The printer needs to have enough time to get the order printed and shipped, while allowing enough time for the bride and groom to fill out the invitations and drop them in the mail in time.
