Making Extra Money: Summer Jobs
Why get a summer job? Well, there are a lot of reasons. For one, a summer job will help you earn extra income so you can afford to do anything that you want without becoming a burden to your parents. Ana Chavez, for example, obtained a summer job in a fast-food company to earn money to help her go to summer camp in another state.
Also, a summer job is an excellent way so to prepare you for the future – life after you graduated high school and after college. While working, you will learn different skills that will assist you in developing your professional talents including very basic yet significant skills such as taking care of children, customer service, self-discipline and yes, working with your boss!
According to surveys, several teens nowadays want to prepare for their future financially, as early as today. They want to earn as well as set aside money. Indeed, there are many summer job opportunities like baby-sitting, mowing lawns, restaurants, movie houses; hotels as well as fast-food establishments need extra help.
Patricia Thompson, for example, worked all summer for her state’s highway department to pick up trash alongside of highways. "I’ve learned a lot from this experience" says Patricia. "I will go and try to finish college to land a decent job and not pick up trash."
This leads to a very significant point. According to Patricia, she does not only mean to study hard in college, but to prepare for college education financially so there is a need to earn extra income. I know college can be expensive and whatever I can save now will be of big help to my parents.
Studies reveal that on average one who graduated from college earn two times the amount salary of somebody who never finished college.
So Patricia and many other teens have realized this and now are looking forward to getting a summer job to earn extra income. Good for them!
