Make Your Own Baby Blankets
Buying your baby a warm cuddly blanket is a nice way to show your love to your young one. An even nicer way to show your affection is to actually make a baby blanket yourself that your baby can use for a while, and would make a wonderful keepsake.
Making baby blankets for your baby is not as hard as it may seem. If you do not know how to sew, do not worry, you can make a wonderful blanket without a sewing machine. All you need is a piece of fleece fabric and sewing scissors. For this, buy a fleece fabric of about a yard in a soft color that would look nice on your baby. Make sure you wash the fabric thoroughly with some mild detergent and cold water before making the blanket.
Once it is properly dried, follow the following instructions:
1. Spread the fabric on a flat surface. Between the two shorter ends, turn one end towards yourself and smooth out all the wrinkles.
2. Using sewing scissors cut the outside boundary of one of the shorter sides by making straight cuts after every half of an inch. Make sure these cuts are almost three inches deep.
3. At the end of every cut, tie a knot.
4. Turn the fabric to the other shorter side, remove wrinkles, and repeat the same procedure as mentioned in steps 2 and 3. Make sure the knots of both the sides are identical.
Your baby blanket is ready to be used. You can give such blankets to a friend’s baby as a gift, or cuddle your own baby in it. Making your crochet baby blankets cannot get any simpler than this! Try it at home and see for yourself.
