People are always wondering how they can make money online. When just starting out it seems like such a monumental tasks. Can I make money online? How much can I make? How much money will I have to spend in order to even start to make money online? The truth of the matter is once all the mystique is taken out of it you will find that it’s really easy to make money online and you don’t really have to spend any of your own money to do it unless you want to.

There are several ways you can make money online for free and if done right you can even make a living from them. I will just examine a few of them here. First lets look at PTCs (paid to click) and PTRs (paid to read). There are hundreds sites that offer this form of making money online. PTC sites pay you for clicking ads and watching them for anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute. PTR sites pay you for reading emails they send you and clicking a link within that email. These sites pay anywhere from one cent to five cents per ad you view. It doesn’t sound like much, but you take 10 to 20 sites that you click 10 to 20 ads a day that money adds up. Also a lot of these sites will put $5 to $10 in your account just for signing up.

The best way to get the most out of PTRs and PTCs is one to check these sites and your email as often as you think is reasonable to see if there are ads to click or mail to read. I usually check three or four times a day. Run as many sites at the same time as you can so while one ad is running you running another ad from another site and so on. These sites usually have a referral program where you can refer other people to join the program and they pay you a percentage of your referral’s activities.

You want to get as many referrals as you can. Ways you can do this is posting in forums with your referral link in the signature, starting a blog or a website and adding your links, joining social networking sites and getting people to sign under you and any other way you can think of.

Another way to make money online for free that a lot of people are using is blogging. There are a lot of sites where you can start a blog for free like Blogger or WordPress. Once you have your blog up you monetized it with Google Adsense, Yahoo Publisher, Bidvertiser or some other ad network ads and when people click those ads you make money. You can also put your affiliate links on your blog.

Other ways to make money from your blog is to talk about a product or service you offer and doing paid reviews from places like PayPerPost, Blogsvertise, Smorty and other paid to blog sites. I must mention however that Google frowns on doing paid reviews and will penalize you by dropping you Page Rank it they find that’s what you are doing. But you can still make money from it.

The last way to make money online that I want to talk about is niche marketing. I am just getting in to this way of making money online myself, but I already see the huge potential of this way to make money online. Niche marketing is where you choose a niche to market, something that has a good search number but low competition. Build a website that related to that niche, monetized it, start marketing the site and do the whole thing over for another niche. You can use free hosts to put your sites on or pay for hosting it’s up to you.

Some ways to market your site to get traffic and backlinks is article marketing, which is writing articles and submitting them to article directories, commenting on blogs that are related to your niche, social bookmarking your site and articles and once posting in forums. The more quality backlinks you have to your site the higher it rises on the search engines, which means more traffic, which means more money.

So now you can see that it is easy to make money online without throwing your money at it. But you have to remember that although it is to make money online you do have to put some work into if you want to make a living at it.
