• Introduce yourself before you begin with the toast to let everyone know what you are to the bride. Let the people know your relationship with the bride, which will clarify why you were at the altar.
• Stick to your instincts and personality. If you have a funny bone, give a funny speech. You can perhaps use quotes like "Before marriage, a man will lay down his life for you; after marriage he won't even lay down his newspaper", or the likes, if not so dramatic!
• If you are not the one with a sense of humor, give a serious and heartfelt speech.
• Make an eye contact with bride, it is for her and she should know that you are genuine.
• Make sure that your voice reaches everyone, so speak up and avoid being timid.
• Finally, remember 'KISS'- keep it simple and short.
