Magical Nights: Part 1
Michelle is a magician and is desperately trying to save the world from a curse.........but things are never simple. With her personal and professional lives mixing nothing seems to be going right.
She stumbled as she landed onto the hard ground. Levitation was never her cup of tea. As she stood up again swiftly, another blow found its ways to her left arm. There was blood dripping into her palm as she grabbed her wand and pronounced clearly and loudly " inbeltou" A blue light found her adversary square in the chest. He now laid down on the concrete, spread- eagled, defeated and finished. There was a sudden thump. She turned around rapidly with her wand raised high, ready to curse....
They all rushed forward wanting to tell her something or to fire questions. "We got here as soon as we could. Are you alright? How badly are you hurt?" said one, "Did you get the Glosmoat stone?" asked another. She murmured "Quiet" and instantly there was silence. "We will meet at the head office in ten minutes." There was a soft buzz and all of a sudden everyone had disappeared.
The clock struck twelve and she began. "The mission was a success. The Glosmoat stone was successfully recovered." Applause began but her icy look set a chill upon the room and there was once again complete silence. "There was a leak of information. I could not track Kurrdor easily because my co-ordinates were being given to him on a platter. Anyone want to suggest how this happened? Or more importantly, because of whom did this happen?" There was silence. Michelle banged her fist on the table and yelled "The traitor is sitting right here in this goddamn room!" She then regained her control and sat down, maintaining eye-contact. "I want a confession right now or else I will look into this personally, and I promise you all......... he or she will not survive." Silence again. "Then so be it." She said and got up to leave, but a trembling voice said "I’m sorry Michelle but I think it was me. I forgot to initialize the information seal when I was contacting you. Someone could have easily tapped into the system.....". Michelle sat back down and began writing, "I’m writing a dismissal note. You will be removed from this facility with your memory erased. You will be put into a normal job." She finally looked up and said "No more magic." In a flash she left the room leaving a torn man alone to dwell upon his grey future.
Seconds later an array of six people entered the room, all but one with a stern look on their face. After receiving a curt "good evening" from the director, Roy could not hold it any longer and he exclaimed "So what’s going to happen now? I have slaved away for this blooming place all my life, you can’t possibly discard me now!" The director slowly raised his head, "while we appreciate your contribution to our cause Mr Roy, errors are not excused in this facility. What we are doing as you know, is creating a potion that will save all magicians and mortals from the likes of Kurrdor’s killing curse. Even small mistakes at this stage will cost many lives, and this we cannot allow. Your mistake has already cost the lives of four from Michelle’s team and you know how she is! Frankly I am surprised that she didn’t finish you off! However getting back to business, you will be given one hour to finish off whatever you need to and do any packing you want, we will meet you here an hour later to give you more details." A few minutes later the room was cleared and only one remained other than Roy. "I know we haven’t met before, Roy but I want you to know that I am with you. No one thinks that you should be given a second chance, but I do. Wear this ring on your finger when they are erasing your memory and all will be fine." he said. Roy looked up and saw him leaving the room. "Wait, who are you?" Roy called out. "A friend" he replied and the door was shut.
Roy looked at the ring on the table that the man had left him. "It could be a trap of some kind, or maybe it is cursed." He taught. All the same Roy picked up the ring and wore it and gradually everything went black.
Michelle arrived home to find food on the table laid romantically laid out. There were candles her favorite food, dim lighting and an unclear silhouette of the man she loved. "Damien darling I cant stay for very long. Something at work has come up and..." but he didn’t let her finish "I am tired of this. I deserve better. You don’t even tell me what u work as, you disappear for weeks on end and come back with cuts and bruises. You have me worried sick! I can’t deal with this!" He walked towards her with a look of strong hurt. Suddenly he left.
