Magical Havana: Special Party for the Traveler
Definitely founded in 1519, to the shade of a leafy tree, a Ceiba, Havana suddenly became a very cosmopolitan city full of travelers coming from all parts of the world, willing to know it deeply.
A delicious environment -to the best style of the Tower of Babel- can be breathed down its streets, where there can be found people from the five continents, strolling, speaking in their own languages, but mingling with the natives of the capital city in the only possible way: through cordiality.
It is precisely in the Cuban capital where one can perfectly observe the main kindness of tourism, as an element of unification and common understanding between different cultures and peoples.
Cuba - and Havana as essence of essences - represents a people very mixed, where the main origins are formed by the Spanish and the African, but also we can find the mixture of the Haitian, the German, the French, the Hebrew and many more places.
The Villa de San Cristóbal de La Habana, as it is actually named, was founded on November 16th, at the shores of Puerto Carenas, after having been initially settled at the south coast of the country in 1515.
This first city located at the western insular region is defined by experts as a place of greatness due to its monuments and a human ladder interrelated through its unique patrimonial values where five centuries of history are settled, a city full of richness and originality.
The bay is a place that can be described as a gathering point for the entire Spanish fleet on its voyage to the metropolis, carrying the richness of the entire western hemisphere. These fleets were escorted by warships and were under the constant siege of pirates and people of all kinds.
Seen this particular attractiveness of a city invaded in 1555 by pirates and in 1792 by the English fleet, with its walls and refuges, from which some pieces and stones are still preserved, we can say it is a very tourist city.
It is the capital of the Republic of Cuba and is located at the 23 degrees and nine minutes of north latitude and the 82 degrees and nine minutes of west longitude, in the northern coast of the western part of the island. Its limits are: to the north, with the Florida Strait, and to its other sides with rural Havana.
It encompasses a total area of 732 square kilometers and has 15 municipalities, nine of which are totally urban. From them, 4,5 square kilometers embrace the old part, which is the most interesting one (2,5 square kilometers are the most visited ones).
The economy of the territory responds to industry, commerce, public services and tourism, with the 47 percent of all the hotels of the country laid on its territory.
On its streets, it can be breathed the gabble of the salsa, but also the gentleness of the son and danzón, two genres which have been part of our history for quite a long time and represent the way of dancing "in a single brick", in contrast to the aggressiveness of movements of the creole "Timba". A party of colorfulness and dreams, capable of catching everyone’s attention.
