MADD Drops Miss Teen USA
Mothers Against Drunk Driving announced Wednesday that they were dropping Miss Teen USA Katie Blair, 18, due to reports of her underage drinking.

It has been reported that MADD was "disappointed" by the news reports that Blair had been spotted partying and drinking with Miss USA Tara Conner in New York City bars. Heidi Castle, a spokeswoman for MADD, said in a statement, "In the past, MADD has teamed with Miss Teen USA to raise awareness about the serious and often deadly consequences of underage drinking. However, we do not feel, at this time, that Miss Blair can be an effective spokesperson on underage drinking and will not be asked to represent MADD in future initiatives."
Donald Trump co-owns the Miss Universe Organization, which includes Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, and announced Tuesday that Conner will be given a second chance if she agrees to enter rehab. Conner, who turned 21 on Monday, admitted to underage drinking in New York City nightclubs and bars. Trump decided she would be allowed to keep her crown and said, "She left a small town in Kentucky and got caught up in the whirlwind we know as New York." Conner entered a rehabilitation facility in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
Lark-Marie Anton, the Miss Universe Organization spokesperson, announced that Blair would be able to keep her crown as well. Anton also said that the organization respected "MADD’s decision as mush as we respect their work. We look forward to working with them in the future." Castle’s statement continued, "We wish Ms. Blair the best as she fulfills her role as Miss Teen USA, and we hope to work with the Miss Teen organization in the future."
