Mad World

Take it day by day...
Her heart is beating fast
she leaves behind her failing past
No more room for fears
her throat burns of unshedding tears.

"Take it slow, but run fast"
is her saying, her one and only last.
She can't stop laughing, she puts up her hand,
covering her mouth, but the laughter slips out like sand.

She sees herself running, running the Olympic track,
she speeds around and around, a sense of time she does lack.

Finally a finish line is up ahead.
Her eyes begin to close and she slowly rests her head.
All grudges of hate disappear,

She sees her loved ones, they watch her go
she whispers goodbye and that she loves them so.

The finish line light is coming to a clear.
She jumps across, she wins her own race.
They say she's now in a better place.
Life can never fully be lived without crossing the finish line,
And if you’re scared, don't be, you'll be just fine.
