Luau Party Games

Ensure fun and excitement throughout your luau party, by playing and enjoying these sensational luau party games.
When you think of a luau party, all you can think of is people sipping cocktails, dressed in authentic Hawaiian beach gear, with the grass skirt, the leis, et al, singing, dancing and enjoying. But so that this routine doesn't get boring, you do need to add in some exciting party games and activities, especially if you are having this party with kids around. With this in mind, presented here are some luau party games and activities, that will have all your guests charged up, and wanting for more! Some of these will require you to have some material prepared in advance. Also remember to keep small prizes for the winners of each game.

Make Your Own Lei
Start with this game, and continue to the remaining games. It is a light activity to have all the guests warmed up for the remaining games. Have all the guests in your party make their own leis, with the use of artificial flowers (silk, paper, etc.). You will also need a sewing needle and thread to conduct this activity. Use different colored flowers for men and women. For instance, men could use a blue and orange combination, while women could use a purple and pink combination. This is a fun activity, and doesn't even get boring because it can be finished in a short amount of time. Time the game, and the person to finish first, wins.

Lei your Partner
Use the leis you have just made to play this game. First, have the players team up as partners. Then, blindfold one partner from the couple, while the remaining partners form a circle, encircling their blindfolded partners. Those who are blindfolded have to find their partners, without any help or signals. Once they think they've found their partners, they have to place the lei in their neck around their partners' neck. After all the blindfolded players have finished, have them remove their blindfolds and see if they've found their partner. The one's who have get a small prize.

Luau Treasure Hunt
The winners of the game 'lei your partner', get to hide a treasure that the remaining players have to find. You could use a good sized shell for this purpose. Once the treasure has been hidden, the other players team up, and head out to find the treasure. Ideally, this game should be played in rounds, with 2-3 couples playing per round. The winner of the first round hides the treasure for the players of the next round. Once the game ends, all the winning teams get a small prize.

Luau Musical Towels
This game is the exact substitute for the good old musical chairs. Since luau games are mostly played on the beach, use a couple of beach towels instead of the chairs. Lay towels, one less than the number of the players, in a circle. Play some luau music, and have everyone dance around the towels. Finally, when the music stops, everyone is supposed to sit on a towel. The person left out, leaves the game, and another towel is removed from the game. Continue until one player is left, who ultimately gets a prize.

Pass the Beach Ball
This is not the old game where you pass around the ball while sitting in a circle, and the one to have it when the music stops sings a song. This is one of the best beach party games to be enjoyed with kids and adults alike! Divide all the guests at your party, into two teams, and hand each team a beach ball. Draw up a start and a finish line. Have the players of both teams stand in a single file. As you yell 'go', the first player of the team has to start running while batting the ball continuously, with either his hands, feet, or head. Holding the ball or dribbling it is not allowed. Once the player reaches the finish line, he has to sprint back and pass the ball to the next player in line, who then performs the same actions. The team to finish this entire exercise first wins!

Ping-Pong Ball Toss
For this game, you will require a toy bucket and shovel, along with 4 ping-pong balls. Again, divide your guests into two teams, and have a player from each team stand behind the start line. Place the bucket about five feet away from this line. The first player places one ping-pong ball before him, and tries to toss it into the bucket using the shovel. Each player gets four attempts. After the first player, the next attempts the same. The team to get maximum shots right, wins. Also, try to keep a small prize for every toss made, even for players from the losing team.

It is guaranteed that with these games, no one will experience a single moment of boredom at your luau party! In fact, it may be one of the best luau parties your guests ever attended. Have a blast!
