Lower Your Water and Electricity Bill in your Apartment Home
There are several ways we can lower our water and energy bills in our apartment home. By taking these easy steps you will see more money in your pocket at the end of the day.
Lowering your electricity and water bills is not that hard of a task to do at all in your apartment community. There are a few steps you can take to ensure that you save a little more money in your pocket every month.
Leave your thermostat at a constant temperature. Many renters believe that if they leave their apartment home they should turn off their air-conditioning when they leave for the day. However, when you return you air conditioning system must once again work hard to cool itself to the desired temperature. This fluctuation actually uses more energy than simply leaving the thermostat steady.
Most apartment communities do not charge for maintenance issues. Have someone from the maintenance staff change out your filter every month. This will help with the efficiency of your HVAC system.
If you live in a warmer environment make sure you close your shades when you are not home. The sun will warm your apartment home and cause your system to again use more energy.
Water bills for a one bedroom apartment home are normally in the range of $10-$25 dollars. Although this is not a large amount of money, we should all play a role in reducing the amount of freshwater we use. Showers use less water than filling up a bathtub. When you begin your shower use your soap and shampoo to clean yourself and then exit. Don’t waste any time. Soon it will become habit and you will take quick showers and consume less water.
Make sure you fully load your dishwasher. Doing partial loads only wastes water and the energy required to warm the water.
Many of the newer apartment communities contain state of the art construction including energy efficient appliances and double pane windows which are designed to use less energy. Make sure you check out some of these communities before you lease. These are all simple techniques we can use to save money every month.
