If you live in a warmer environment make sure you close your shades when you are not home. The sun will warm your apartment home and cause your system to again use more energy.

Water bills for a one bedroom apartment home are normally in the range of $10-$25 dollars. Although this is not a large amount of money, we should all play a role in reducing the amount of freshwater we use. Showers use less water than filling up a bathtub. When you begin your shower use your soap and shampoo to clean yourself and then exit. Don’t waste any time. Soon it will become habit and you will take quick showers and consume less water.

Make sure you fully load your dishwasher. Doing partial loads only wastes water and the energy required to warm the water.
