It was Rachel's first day of her low carb diet program and she had planned her low carb meals really well. She was happy that she had eaten breakfast as well lunch that had very less of those dangerous carbohydrates. She went outside her office to look for food, however she could only see burgers, pizzas, pastries, etc., around her. The problem here is that most of us have a habit of cooking and eating meals that are healthy three times a day, however not much thought is put on what one should eat during those times when hunger strikes between meals. Sometimes people control hunger till they can reach home and have dinner, however most of them tend to grab some kind of fast foods that are high in carbohydrates, sugar and salt to curb their hunger.

As indulging in foods that contain heavy carbohydrates is not very healthy, it is important that people know about the low carb healthy snacks that they can have between meals, especially those who are working towards losing weight. However, most people complain that they hardly get time to cook their meals and hence, preparing snacks is impossible for them. Nevertheless, snacks can also be grabbed from a nearby food store or can be made at home in a very short time.

One of the best low carb snack is nuts which you can easily pick up from any food store. Nuts like peanuts, almonds, etc., contain very little carbohydrates and are high in fiber, proteins and healthy fats. You can buy these nuts in bulk, but take care that you do not eat too much of them. Also, beware of the different types of nuts that are available in the market including fried, salty, spicy, etc. It is best to avoid these nuts and stick to the plain ones. Apart from these nuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds makes for some tasty low carb nibbles. However, just like nuts, before buying these seeds just check if they have some added flavors or sugar in them.

Fruits
Having fruits is a great snack idea which can be bought easily. Though most of the fruits are low in carbohydrates, make sure that the fruits that you eat contain very less sugar also. These fruits include raspberries, strawberries, watermelon, grapes, lemon or lime, cranberries, papaya, grapefruit, guavas, melons, apples, etc.

Raw Vegetables
Another choice for snack is eating raw vegetables. As many convenient stores supply packaged raw vegetables, you can choose one quite easily. Some of the low carb raw vegetables that you can have as a snack include broccoli, celery and carrots. To add some taste to these raw vegetables, add some peanut butter to it.

Cheese and Sugar Free Candies
Cheese is also said to be a great low carb diet snack. Opt for cheddar or cottage cheese which you can eat along with certain fruits or raw vegetables. There are also some cheese sticks available in the market which you can add to your snack list. Other than cheese, sugar-free candies as well as sugar-free jellos are good snacks with low levels of carbohydrates.

Other than the snacks that you can buy, there are also some easy healthy recipes that you can make in a jiffy. One really great snack idea is hard-boiled eggs. This is the simplest snack you can make and even carry to your workplace for a quick bite. However, if you need some variety in your snacks, you can try some of these low carb recipes.

Hard-Boiled Eggs with Mayonnaise
Take two hard-boiled eggs and slice them into two, vertically. In another bowl, take 2 tablespoons minced onions, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons celery and 1/2 teaspoon mustard to it. Add salt and mix well till it becomes a paste. Add the sliced eggs into it and see to it that the eggs get thoroughly coated with the paste.

Yummy Fried Cheese
Take 12 ounce package of frying cheese and cut them into small cubes. Heat oil in a deep skillet and fry these cheese cubes in it. Keep in mind that putting too may cheese cubes together can make them sticky and hence, do not fry more than four at a time. Once the cheese cubes become golden brown in color, remove and place them on paper towels to get rid of the excess oil. Have this delicious snack with sauce.
