Loving Lies
Dark.
Loving lies told out of fear
I'll always be with you my dear
A parents need to make something fair
Where's the fair in a dead child's stare
Lying to ourselves, it'll get better
But it doesn't have to not ever
The strong brightest noblest flame
Burns only for an instant
Others go on and on with no name
Happiness ebbs slowly with age
Less of it with each turned page
In a book where you can't turn back
Like time from a yellowed photo stack
The curse is to live a long life
And watch family cut with deaths knife
Pallored flesh and lips of ochre
We hide the truth in shallow graves
Staring red eyes from the sepulcher
Kings and queens and red knaves
We hide the truth in shallow graves
I'll always be with you my dear
A parents need to make something fair
Where's the fair in a dead child's stare
Lying to ourselves, it'll get better
But it doesn't have to not ever
The strong brightest noblest flame
Burns only for an instant
Others go on and on with no name
Happiness ebbs slowly with age
Less of it with each turned page
In a book where you can't turn back
Like time from a yellowed photo stack
The curse is to live a long life
And watch family cut with deaths knife
Pallored flesh and lips of ochre
We hide the truth in shallow graves
Staring red eyes from the sepulcher
Kings and queens and red knaves
We hide the truth in shallow graves
