After gym, I met up with Danielle and we went to history class, but not before I get a detention from Mr. Benin. For what? Good question. I received this detention for bringing my backpack and my purse with me to class. Not just that, Mr. Benin told me that if my skirt was longer, he wouldn’t have given me the detention. Sounds hard to believe, but Mr. Benin is what I consider a teacher that should never have gotten a teaching license.
Anyway, we went to history class and sat in our assigned seats. You might be thinking that is stupid that high schoolers have assigned seats. Everyone in my class agrees with you.
On a okay note, I got last week’s pop quiz back, which I didn’t quite fail it, I just got a D.
As you might have guessed, I’m not the best student. I don’t get all A’s, or any A’s for that matter, but I don’t fail any of my classes, either. I am one of those students who just gets by high school, with grades just passing each class.
Oh, I also got a note to take home to my mom, which explains to her that she is going to have to have a talk with my teachers. Joy.
After Mr. Benin’s speech about how my class has no chance against his homeroom class for the pop can drive, I fell asleep. But my nap didn’t last long. The bell woke me up about ten minutes later.
Once we got to our lockers, Danielle notified me that there was a piece of gum in my hair. Disgusted, I pulled it out and wiped my hand with a hand wipe that I keep in my purse. After that, I figured out Caitlyn put the gum in my hair once I fell asleep.
Okay, to save you all from boredom, I won’t continue with the rest of my school day. I will skip to when I get home. Sound good?
So, when I got home, I got dressed for the mall, and ate a peanut butter and jelly. Then I decided to watch TV and wait to see if Alex could come to the mall with us.
About an hour of watching Spongebob, Alex called. He said he could come to the mall, and he even offered to pick me up. Not knowing how good of a driver he was, I hesitated, but finally said yes and gave him my address.
He told me he would be at my house in about fifteen minutes. So while I waited, I ate a granola bar and listened to my iPod. I had my music so loud, I didn’t even hear the doorbell ring when Alex got here. My mom had to come to my room and tell me that 'a very attractive young man was here to see me', as she said.
I laughed and quickly ran downstairs to go.
"Hi," I said when I saw him.
"Hello," he said. "I hope your headache has gone away since gym?"
I smiled, "Yeah, it has."
"So, um, you ready to go?" he asked.
I nodded. "Bye, mom!" I yelled.
We went out to the car. The ride there had simple conversations about school and Danielle and sadly, Matt.
Thankfully, it wasn’t a long ride, and we got there shortly.
"Okay, we have to meet Danielle and Matt at the food court," I told him. He nodded and followed me. I quickly ran to the food court. Danielle and Matt were already there waiting for us.
"What took you so lo-" Danielle started, but she stopped herself when she saw Alex. "Um, who is this?"
"Alex, from school. You’ve seen him around, probably," I said.
He put out his hand, to shake Danielle’s, but he soon realized Danielle wasn’t that type of person. "Um, I am new to the school," he said, bringing his arm back to his side.
"Oh, yeah," she said, giving me a weird look.
Well this will be an interesting night… I told myself.
"Um, Danielle, how about Alex and I go by ourselves?" I said, trying to not make it a question. I didn't want to put Alex through Danielle and Matt’s craziness. "We’re not going to be long here," I finished.
"Great idea," Matt said under his breath. I ignored him.
She looked at me strangely with her arms crossed, meaning she was irritated with me. "Fine," she said as she turned around to walk away with Matt.
I turned to Alex, "Sorry about Danielle," I paused. "She just gets that way sometimes. You learn to deal with it."
He gave a faint laugh, "It is alright. I just…didn’t expect it."
I started walking, figuring Alex would follow me. "So where do you want to go first?" I asked him curiously.
He looked around at the many stores around him, "I am not sure. Let's just walk around for now."
We walked through almost the entire mall, stopping by at our favorite stores on the way, but we didn’t buy too much. Alex bought a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I bought a new purse, a t-shirt, and Alex even persuaded me to get a new ear piercing.
After that, we decided to go home. We didn’t tell Danielle and Matt, though. We figured they wouldn’t care anyway.
"Thanks for driving me," I said in the car.
"You’re welcome," he said, "This is your house, right?" he asked stopping in front of a house.
"Yep, that’s me," I opened the door and grabbed my bags. "Well, thanks again. I’ll see you tomorrow."
"Bye," he said, almost as if he wished more would have happened..
