Love's Song - Chapter One
Love's Song is a story that I have been writing for a few months, but I finally decided to put it somewhere! This chapter is where Violet (the main character) meets Alex (the other main character). :)
Hey guys! I am new to Buzzle and this is my first story here, so bear with me!
Enjoy,

"I can't help it...I love Danny.." I told myself.
The above quote show my naive nature, being a young teenage girl, that is.
Anyway, to start the story, I will give you some background information. Let's see...
I was three and he was four. He was the new kid in our neighborhood who had moved to Colorado from New York.
We became best friends by day two, and we started "dating" by day three. Of course, seeing we were toddlers, it was an innocent relationship, where holding hands was the best part.
We would do everything together. We would tent out in our backyards together and draw pictures for each other. But I noticed, by the time I was about seven, we weren't as close. We still had the occasional play date together, but hardly.
Then, when I turned nine, he moved. That was it. I didn't see him anymore, except in school, but we didn't talk. I hated to admit it, but I still liked him. It hurt me that once he moved, he never made an effort to see me, but...well, I can't explain it.
Then in the seventh grade, he got a girlfriend. Lucky for me, that is also the year I met my best friend, Danielle.
He has had many girlfriends since then, and it has made me realize that there would never be a chance for me. Which was alright. This year, my, what was left of a crush, has pretty much gone away, mainly because he dropped our friendship.
The only time I thought about him was when I saw him with his new girlfriend, Kayla. Otherwise, I stayed concentrated on school work and friends.
Now, getting the background information out of the way, let's get to our story, starting with lunchtime.
"Violet, do you want to go to the mall with me?" Danielle asked me.
I smiled, "Sure."
"Good. Can Matt come?" she asked me, looking at her boyfriend with a smile.
I sighed, "Of course," I said sarcastically. "But I find your question irrelevant, seeing he will come no matter what I say." Now, don't get me wrong, I was very happy for Danielle when she told me about her and Matt. But if you knew Matt, you'd understand why I wish she would've picked someone, well...different. He was rude, obnoxious, and loud, like most teenagers at my school.
Matt looked at Danielle and rolled his eyes.
"Violet, c'mon, can't you just be nice to him?" Danielle asked, clearly frustrated.
"No, actually, I can't," I said. "Just drop it. He can come," I tried to end the conversation, but of course Matt just can't let it go.
"You're just jealous," he said with a sneer.
"Why would I be jea-" I started, but Danielle cut me off.
"Stop!" she yelled. "We just won't go to the mall."
"Good, I don't want to go shopping with her anyway," Matt said.
"No, it's fine, we can go. I will be nice," I said.
After that, the rest of the lunch was silent, besides a few murmurs from Matt.
Oh, I forgot to mention Matt is immature, but I suppose you already found that out. And why does someone like Danielle go out with someone like that, you might ask? I was wondering the same thing. Ever since she started dating him, she acted different.
Finally, after an extremely awkward lunch, the bell rang, which meant gym class. Gym was usually pretty fun, except our teacher, Mrs. Pine. Whatever team her daughter, Michelle, was on, was the winning team, even if they didn't deserve to win. No one liked Mrs. Pine because of it.
"Today's team captains are Matt and Caitlyn," Mrs. Pine announced as we all entered the gym.
For once she didn't pick Michelle, I thought.
"Pick your teams!" she yelled, with a long, loud blow of her whistle.
Anyway, to save us some time, I won't go through the captains picking their teams. So I'll just skip to the end. Yes, the end, meaning the last person to get picked, which was me. No surprise though; Matt would never be caught dead picking me and Caitlyn would rather pick Tim than pick me, which says a lot.
So anyway, I got stuck on Caitlyn's team. I guess that is better than Matt's team, though, so I shouldn't complain too much.
"The game in dodge ball!" Mrs. Pine yelled at the top of her lungs, which is very loud, by the way.
The teams separated against the walls. In the middle of the gym were ten dodge balls.
I frowned as Mrs. Pine blew the whistle, which meant "GO!"
Most of the guys ran as fast as they could to the middle of the gym, trying to grab a ball before the other team did. Most of the girls stayed on the wall, but a few, like Michelle, ran to the middle just like the guys.
I stayed against the wall. Not because I was afraid of getting hit, but because the game was mainly between the guys, until the end.
While the game goes on, let's talk. How are you? Do you like dodge ball? Don't worry, neither do I.
Anywho, I decided to watch in amusement. Most of the guys acted like the game was a war between two countries, and the dodge balls were bullets. I, like many others would, found it amusing.
Sadly, though, my amusement was ending, as was the game. There were just a few players left on each team. I was one of them.
I decided to mess around, so I could just get out of the game. So I ran to the middle of the gym, hoping someone would just hit me. Instead, I banged into some guy, because he was running to the middle too. I didn't even see who it was. I was knocked to the ground, and I had guessed he had too, because it was a very hard hit.
"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry," I heard someone say, as I felt someone's hand grab mine and pull me to my feet.
I shook my head and opened my eyes. Besides a little blurred vision, and a now pounding headache, I was fine.
"Oh, okay," I said, getting balance. "It is fine," I said as I looked to see who it was. It was Alex, a new student who recently came to our school about a month ago.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his hand still on mine.
I gave a small laugh. "Yes, I am fine," I said, not mentioning the horrid headache.
I looked around the gym, and noticed the dodge ball game was still going on. Mrs. Pine hadn't stopped it. I rolled my eyes.
"Um, here, let's go to the bleachers," he said, walking me toward them. He sat down with me.
"Thanks," I said.
Since we couldn't play for the rest of the gym period, we began talking. He was really funny and nice, as I soon discovered.
After a while of talking, I decided to ask him if he wanted to come to the mall with me, Danielle, and Matt. He said he would, if his mom said yes.
So I gave him my number so he could call me if he could go or not. Almost immediately after that, the bell rang and gym was over. We said good-bye, and went to the locker rooms.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Love at first sight! Not quite. Not at all, really. At this point in time, I thought nothing more of Alex than a new friend or the kid that gave me a bad headache.
Enjoy,
Lauren C.
