"You know what Nan, if the girl in the ICU survives I mean if she lives I promise you and I promise God that I'll give her whatever she asks for. Whatever in this whole wide world is mine will be given to her if she asks me for it. Anything just any damn thing. Her wish will be my command."
Nandini didn't understand what to say. She sat silently wondering what to do next. As she laid her face in her palms she felt someone hit the arm of her chair. She looked up to see a police officer standing in front of her with two constables walking a few steps behind him. Raman stood up and asked the officer as to what was the matter. The officer informed him that they had come to arrest him since he had hit a pedestrian with his car which was a criminal offense. Raman quietly complied with the officer and accompanied him and his fellow officers to the police station. Nandini tried to intervene and stop the police from taking Raman with them but Raman asked her to stay calm and look after the girl. After Raman left, Nandini immediately called Soumya and told him all that happened. He asked her to stop worrying and assured her that he would go to the police station and see what could be done.
Looking at the seriousness of the situation Soumya decided to reveal the truth behind Raman's absence to his mother as she had already figured out that something was surely wrong and was hoping that her son was absolutely fine. Soumya tried to stop her from coming with him to the police station as Raman would not like to see his mother there at this hour but she was adamant to see her son in front of her eyes. On reaching the police station Soumya was told that he would have to wait for the court to open in the morning in order to bail Raman out of the lock up. The police also told Soumya that the victim's family has been informed and they are on their way to the hospital and if they officially complain against Raman then he would be in some serious trouble.
Nandini was constantly in touch with Soumya and he told her to try to speak to the family of that girl. As she was preparing herself to face the family of the girl she heard a nurse come out the ICU and tell a nurse standing outside the ICU that the accident victim on bed 1 has gained consciousness and asked her to inform the doctor in charge of the case. The nurse swiftly moved to call the doctor, while the nurse in charge of the victim went back inside the ICU.
Nandini was suddenly struck with an idea to help Raman out of this trouble. She sneaked inside the ICU and in a very urgent tone she told the nurse that the other nurse who had been there a few seconds ago has asked her to come to the nurse's room since there was some serious problem there. The nurse looked surprised and rushed out of the ICU leaving the girl and Nandini alone. Nandini quickly went near the girl and saw her lying on the bed. Though the girl's eyes were closed her face showed she was in a lot of pain. Her forehead was bandaged. Nandini was wondering as to should she wake her up, the girl slowly moved and opened her eyes. Nandini noticed that the girl was very beautiful indeed and realized that wasn't totally at fault. A girl so beautiful even when injured must have really caught Raman's eye. Raman, who never showed interest in any girl after Neerja, being distracted by someone like this girl is natural but injuring her was just not justified. The girl looked back at Nandini and asked "Where am I?"
Nandini hesitated at first, wondering what to tell the girl who would convince her to not complain against Raman.
"Hhmm, you are in Shree Ram government hospital and hi my name is Nandini. I am here to request you to please not complain against my friend Raman by whose car you were hit. He didn't mean to hurt you. He was just driving to the airport to receive his mother when he kinda got distracted I mean he lost control and hit you please I request or rather beg you to not file a complaint against him he's a very nice guy. Please I'll give you anything you ask for." Nandini heard some footsteps nearing the ICU. "Please save my friend."
She quickly hid behind the door and saw a doctor and the two nurses enter the room.
"Is that woman here? How could you be so stupid? How could you listen to a stranger?", She heard the doctor say angrily to the nurse.
"No doctor she wasn't a stranger, she was with that man who had bought this girl to the hospital," the nurse tried to justify.
"You mean the same man who tried to run down this girl right? The same man who's in jail in an accident case right? Great Shabana, when will you learn to use your common sense? Anyway, I will examine her till then you go inform the police that they can come for a statement."
