Love or Family Ch. 8

~Ivy~

Sean, Venus, Riley, and I were all hanging out on the couch, watching TV. Venus was in Sean's lap and Riley had his arm around me when we heard a knock on the door.

"I'll get it." said Venus.

She opened the door and said "What are you doing here, dog."

I knew who it was immediately. I jump off the couch and away from Riley. But, unfortunately, he'd already seen us.

"What's going on here?" asked Daniel, glaring at Riley.

"Daniel, it's nothing we were just-" I started

"It's okay, Ivy." said Riley. "We were just planning a dinner date, thank you."

"Ivy, tell me you're not seriously with this guy." said Daniel expectantly.

"Ivy, tell me you're not seriously considering this loser over me." Riley said equally as expectant.

That was the last thing I remember before everything went black.

~Venus~

Sean and I had quietly backed out of the room but we'd heard everything that was being said. When we heard a thump coming from the living room, I burst into the room, and what I saw terrified me.

"What the hell just happened?!" I screeched, staring down at my sister lying on the floor, unmoving.

"I don't know she just.... collapsed." said Riley kneeling beside her.

"Look at the puncture wounds on her neck, she's been bitten." said Sean. I was frozen in fear; I knew what vampire venom could do and the thought of that inside my sister was absolutely horrendous.

"I thought the venom started working instantly." said Daniel also kneeling beside Ivy.

Sean shook his head and said. "There is a special breed of vampires; they bite a victim while he or she sleeps. The venom goes unnoticed for about twelve hours, and then attacks the major internal organs. There is only one known survivor, and that was four hundred years ago."

"So the odds are she won't make it." I said, tears slipping down my cheeks.

Sean shook his head again, wrapping me in his arms.
