Love or Family Ch. 11

~Venus~

"Hey Venus." said Riley. It was about two weeks after Sean had broken up with me, and I hate to say it but I was almost completely over him and that made me feel guilty. I just couldn't understand how I could be so head over heels in love with a guy one day, then the next that attraction was just gone. I really didn't get it.

"Hey." I said sipping blood from a mug. Just your typical morning, the vampire having her morning cup of blood, the werewolf raids the fridge, and the other vampire goes upstairs to go to bed, yep totally normal.

"So, have you heard from Sean yet?" Riley asked as he sat down at the breakfast bar and started stuffing his face with the condense of the fridge.

"No, I didn't think it looked that bad." I said, half of my attention was on Riley and the other half was concentrating on the blood. See, different vampire's like different types of blood. I prefer the blood of liars, Sean liked the blood of people who were stressed, and Ivy likes the blood of pessimists.

"Well, you'll just have to learn how to keep your hands off me" Riley said smirking at me.

"Me? You came on to me, remember?" I argued. This was kind of our relationship.

"You were asking for it." he said putting both his hands up.

"I was not." I said, playfully elbowing him, he elbow me and I shoved him, he fell off the chair but that wasn't my fault because I hadn't shoved him that hard.

"That was rude" he said grabbing my hand and pulling me down with him.

"So was that." I said as we started wrestling. I won, of course. He just couldn't get over the fact that as a vampire I was stronger than him, he always said I just got lucky.

When we finished he ended up on top of me. I looked up at Riley and I felt something, something more intense than the puppy love that I'd felt for him before. It blew what I felt for Sean way out of the water. I couldn't help myself and before I knew it I was leaning into him what was really surprising was that he was leaning towards me as well. When our lips met it was better than anything I'd felt before. Better than any kiss I'd shared with Sean or any boy before him.

"This is wrong." said Riley breaking the kiss. I stared at him for a few seconds until I pushed him off me and started running to my room. Before I even got there tears were slipping down my cheeks and for the next hour or so I laid on my bed crying and trying to figure out why I had to screw everything in my life up and screw everyone in my life over.

~Ivy~

"Hey Sean!" I said when I saw him for the first time in two weeks. I had been wondering why he didn't come over anymore or why he didn't call. I figured he was just busy.

"Oh, hi Ivy." he said, pausing before he walked on. I was kind of confused, he was usually...nicer.

"Wait up." I said running to catch up with him. It was a bit strange to see him there, at the local mall. He never really went shopping because he never really grew out of his clothes.

"So... uhh... what?" he said, seeming unsure of why I was talking to him.

"What are doin' here?" I asked. I had to almost run to keep up with him. I really didn't get why he was being this hostile.

"I'm meeting my girlfriend here." he answered casually. I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard that. Last I knew, Venus was his girlfriend and I knew for a fact that Venus was sleeping and had no intention of going out... 'God, am I not in the loop anymore?' I thought to myself.

"What did you just say?" I said in a voice that was too low for humans to hear.

"I'm meeting my girlfriend, Savannah at the fountain." he said. I gave him a what-are-you-talking look. He seemed confused as well.

"What about Venus?" I asked.

"What about her?" he shot back.

"She is your girlfriend. Has been for four years." I reminded him. Judging by the look he was giving me, I definitely wasn't in the loop anymore. Out of nowhere, another question entered my thoughts. "Who's Savannah?" I blurted out. 'It can't be my Savannah, could it?' I thought.

"Her name is Savannah Burks and she is my girlfriend." Sean said obviously annoyed with me.

"You're free to go." I said as I whipped out my phone and started dialing Savannah's number as fast as I could. Sean just rolled his eyes and started walking in the direction of the fountain.

"Hello?" a voice said on the other end of the line.

"Savannah? It's me." I said so fast it was probably hard for her to understand me, but right now I really didn't care.

"Oh, hey Ivy. What's up?" she said.

"Are you dating anyone right now?" I asked urgently. I didn't think she recognized the anger in my tone but I did.

"Yeah, I am. He's the most amazing guy, his name is Sean Tyler and he is totally great. He's a perfect gentleman and he's got this mysterious thing going on and it's irresistible." I'd heard this before. That was almost the exact same thing Venus had told me four years ago.

"He's also Venus's ex-boyfriend." I said when she was done with her speech. By then the anger was completely apparent in my voice and I made no effort to hide it.

"Oh.... well, whatever." she said. When she said that I was shocked, I remembered one day in eighth grade Venus, Savannah, and I had made a promise to each other that we wouldn't date each other’s ex's. I just hung up on her, I couldn't talk to her without cursing at her and we'd made a promise about that too.
