Love or Family Ch. 4

~Ivy~

I was in English class when Mr. Ross (the English teacher) announced that a new student would be joining us. When we heard that everyone became extremely alert. There hadn't been an addition to the student body since Venus and I moved here freshman year.

I totally ignored the boy as he walked in.

"Why don't you tell us your name young man?" Mr. Ross asked.

"I'm Riley James." the new kid said as the girls all went crazy.

My head snapped up when I heard that name. I couldn't believe it! Riley was my ex-boyfriend, we'd broken up when I moved because neither of us believed in long distance relationships. And now he was here! It was unbelievable.

When I looked up he was starring right at me with those intense turquoise eyes. I remembered how much I'd loved those eyes. They were unforgettable.

"How about you sit next to Ivy?" Mr. Ross intervened. I was a bit annoyed with him for ruining me and Riley’s little moment there.

"Sure." Riley said shrugging.

The rest of the period was boring, but sitting next to Riley made it interesting. It was easy to remember why I found him so attractive. I was going to make a move, but then I remembered Daniel. I thought about how it felt not to have him in my life. I resolved to wait a few days before I made any decisions.

~Venus~

I was at my locker when Ivy came running towards me.

"Guess what, guess what, and guess what!" she said excitedly

"Well, the last time you said that I choked, so I'm a little afraid."

"It has nothing whatsoever to do with Daniel." she promised.

"Okay, lay it on me." I said bracing myself.

"You know how there were rumors about a new student?" she asked as we started walking to class.

"Yeah?" I urged.

"Well, there is a new student, and you'll never in a million years guess who it is." she said.

"Who?" I asked. By now I was really excited; Sean would say I was such a typical human.

"The new student is... Riley James." she said, grinning

"Shut up." I said. "SHUT UP!" There was no way that Riley James, RILEY JAMES, was the new kid, no possible way.

"If I shut up, you won't know." she said wistfully

"Okay, tell me everything." I said. "Every single detail."
