Love on Fire 1

When mysterious , Rose, meets innocent, little Connor. Lives are put in danger and a fiery love is born.
I was thinking about my past while I drove into the Parker High's school parking lot. There weren't many cars because it was still early. I thought back to the dream I had last night.

I was running and they were following me. They yelled at me to stop, but I was too scared. I would never let them hurt me again. I felt my foot giving out under me as I fell onto my face, then they were here, right on top of me. Their hands reached down as a scream ripped from my throat.

I snapped back to reality and I realized I was panting as if I had run a mile. I checked my reflection in the pull-down mirror, satisfied, I opened the door. When I stepped out someone barreled into me, knocking the wind from me. I looked up, ready to give someone hell. What I found in front of me knocked the breathe from my lungs all over again. He was beautiful.

He stood there staring at me with large, round, piercing green eyes. Framed by long lashes, his eyes were the greenest I had ever seen. They seemed apologetic as he stared at me. I suddenly realized our situation and coughed a little.

I spoke first, "Are you alright?" He looked startled when he heard my voice.

"I think I should be the one asking that. After all, I'm the one who ran into you. So....are you ok?" I laughed at his question since he was just repeating everything I had just said.

"I'm perfectly fine as you can see. By the way I'm Rose, like you know, the flower." I really wanted to know his name. Looking at him for the first time had shocked me that anyone could be so handsome. He had auburn hair that curled slightly at the ends, a strong jaw, full lips, and cheekbones so sharp they seemed sculpted. He was beautiful.

"How rude of me. I knock into you, then I forget to introduce myself. My name is Connor and this is my first day of junior year. I'm new." His smile was lopsided but it fit his image. He was giving me that smile right now. "Hey I'm sorry but I need to get going. Being new and all has its setbacks. I'll keep an eye out for you though. I need to properly apologize for running into you like that. Bye."

I felt disappointed when he walked away, like a part of me was going with him. From behind he looked like any other jock, but I knew in my heart that he was different, innocent like a little boy. My gaze trailed after him as I sighed and prepared myself for another day as Rose, the IT girl.
