Love of an Angel - Chapter Four

In this chapter Ana fights Lucifer in a small battle. She begins to show signs of her demon side and she calls Casbell. Will Ana take the heat or get out of the kitchen?!
"This do in remembrance of me..." The Priest said, as I took a piece of the wafers up into my hand. I then took up the wine and drank it. Michael smiled at me slightly over his cup. I hadn't ever done this before and the Last Supper thing was new too. Michael whispered. "You should see your face...you aren't used to this. Everyone can tell..." I raised an eyebrow and giggled but the priest looked at me sternly.

After communion was over I stepped out onto the curb and looked for the car. It was parked across the street in front of an old house. I wasn't accustomed to old houses but for some reason I was intrigued to go inside. Michael chatted away to the priest and so I went across the street. I stepped onto the sidewalk leading up to the porch. The front porch was screened in and the screen surrounding it was torn and tattered. I went up the concrete steps and into the screen porch. I turned the knob to the front door slowly wondering why I felt compelled to enter.

When I entered the house, a wave of cold air hit me. I shivered slightly and then looked up at the stairs. There stood Lucifer and then I glared. I should have known I thought deep down. I asked, "Was it you who lured me over here?" He laughed and put his hands together, "Oh so you know. Well it was me and I just wanted to let you know, Ana, that the time for Hell to come on Earth is coming soon than you think. Why don't you just give in and come with me to Hell? Become my bride..."

I quirked an eyebrow, "Why? So you can lure me to burn in the lake of fire when the time for you comes? No thank you...I prefer light of Heaven over the fiery depths of Hell any day." He got mad and came at me with such a fastness that I didn't even have time to blink my eyes. He had me by the throat. His eyes were red and his teeth looked sort of funny and pointy, almost like those of a vampire. I gulped but couldn't swallow, his grip on me was so tight. He breathed and huffed. "I give you the choice of having anything you want...anyone you want, but yet you still choose the one who gave nothing to save you."

I managed out, "He did give...me...something! He...gave...me...eternal....life!" I kicked him so hard he went flying down the stairs to land with a thud on the floor. I grabbed one of the strange medieval looking swords from the wall and jumped down to where he lay. He gave no motion to he was going to kick my own feet out from under me. He did so though. I went flying into a table beneath the landing of the stairs. The wood beneath me splintered and shattered into thousands of pieces. Lucifer got up and grabbed the remaining sword. I got up before he could stab me and our swords clashed. The smell of metal clashing could be smelled from any direction. The sound echoed off the sides of the empty house.

All of a sudden Michael entered and I looked up. Just then Lucifer knicked me with the dull blade. Blood seeped from the small wound. I smirked and looked into his eyes, "Nice shot! Always get someone when the aren't looking!" I shot back at him and caught his abdomen. No blood came out but something oozed from him. It was something black and I couldn't tell if that was his blood or not. For a moment I looked over to see Michael in full angel attire with sword drawn. Lucifer growled again and looked at me, "This battle isn't over yet, Ana! I will come back for you and make you beg me for your life. It will be then that I shall have you for my bride..."

I rolled my eyes and he disappeared. Michael looked over at me and put away the sword, "Are you alright?" I nodded and sighed. "As fine as can be expected. I can't believe he would just up and attack me like that. I know why I came over to this house too. He lured me here with his powers. The battle is about to begin, Michael. Lucifer won't wait much longer."

Michael's wings emerged back into his back and he nodded, "I know...but we'll be as ready for him as we know how. I didn't know you could use a sword that well." I let the sword I clenched in my right hand fall to the floor. I didn't know how to use one until I was cornered like a small endangered animal. I then lashed out to whomever had me cornered. Still in the back of my mind I couldn't let the thought of me not playing a part in this battle go. Casbell's words tempted me and it was still hard to resist.

As we got into the car and drove back to our hometown, I was silent. I knew that Michael knew something was wrong. There wasn't a time when he didn't know. Perhaps he thought with my own time, I would come back and tell him if something was wrong. Once back at the hotel he turned to me before I got out, "Alright tell me what is wrong, Ana. You've been quiet silent since we left that house. Are you having second thoughts about God and myself?"

I shook my head, "No but how could you ask such a thing. All this is very confusing to me, Michael. One day I woke up and I was with a demon...and then Lucifer killed my parents. Then all of a sudden I am the daughter of demons...it's a lot to take in all at once especially for a high school teenager. Have a little mercy on me would ya?"

I was mad and you could easily tell that. I didn't speak to him for the time remaining in the day. That night as I brushed my teeth. I could feel something poking my tongue. I stared into the mirror for a moment and realized my incisors were coming down. I gasped and dropped the tooth-brush in the sink. Michael came running in, "What's wrong?"

I looked up at him and smiled a little, faking it of course but showing off my teeth, "Look at my teeth! What's wrong with me?" He looked at the incisors and remarked, "Well Dorothy, you're no longer in Kansas anymore..." I glared at him, "For real Michael! What's happening to me?" He gulped, "The change into your demon form is coming, Ana. I don't know if I can stop it. I seriously doubt it. You got angry at me awhile back and that is what triggered it. Maybe even the battle with Lucifer."

I sighed and just gave up. I went to get my cell phone and looked at Michael, "I'm going for a ride. I need to be alone for a while. I'll call you if I need you."

He couldn't say anything and I left. When I got out-of-the-way of the hotel I dialed Casbell's number. His answering machine picked up and then I thought to dial the cell phone he usually kept on him. He answered slowly, "This is Casey." I sighed. "Casbell, it's me...Ana. Where are you at right now?"

He came on shortly, "I'm at the Huddle House drinking some coffee before I head back out on the road. I'm fixing to leave town. I told you that I was going to, Ana. What do you want?"

I came back on, "I'm heading that way. I need to talk to you...but I can't let Michael know I'm leaving town. I'm sorta having second thoughts about this whole Hell and Heaven battle thing. How can I do this? Casbell, I'm so confused."

When I met him at the Huddle House he sat in a booth drinking his ususal black coffee. He looked at me and said, "Hey you look pretty rough. I heard about the small battle you and Lucifer had. He really wants you and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants." I shrugged. "It wasn't no big deal or anything. I just felt this rage enter me and I can't explain what it felt like."

His eyes widened. "Ana...your demon side came out..."

What was happening to me?
