Love Lost And Gained
Have you ever thought that love would be the death of you?
Your back retreating, shoulder’s hunched
Walking slowly away from me.
Tears were flowing like river streams
My eyes blurry and unseeing.
My heart was breaking
But you continued on.
I returned home with heavy heart
Hurting to the very core of my soul.
I thought the night would be
Never ending for me.
I had no energy left inside
And no strength to go on.
At midnight the moon and stars
Shone bright and I felt
To leave me you had no right.
Then a silhouette appeared on the road beyond
Beyond my window growing ever closer
I hurried out the door and ran and ran
Toward my destiny.
You’re sheepish grin
Told me all I had to know
My life and love now belonged
To only you.
