Love Lasts - Chapter 2
Hi guys please enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it and leave your comments; they really keep me motivated to post and continue writing. And I love to hear from the readers. Plus it's a nice break from the craziness of university taking a mix of business and engineering.
We got out of the water, and sat down on the rocks after both of us calmed down a bit. I sat close enough to Jamie that my leg brushed up against his every time either of us moved, even slightly. His hand rested on my thigh, just above my knee. I could tell he was waiting to say something, something important. I let the silence float between us, waiting in anticipation, and anxiety. I looked over at Jamie, waiting for his eyes to meet mine. He finally looked up, and gave an agonizing smile.
"If I had known that I would meet you, I, I -" His words lingered in the air for a moment, but I know he won't, and will never finish that sentence.
"You would have done exactly the same thing you are doing now." It hurts so much to say those words, yet it gives me so much pride. As awful as it is to have Jamie away from me, far away, it's more than worth it. He would regret not fighting for the freedom of the innocent for the rest of his life. He would never be happy. He would be living in a world of what ifs. He would be more miserable than he is now. And though it's so tough, I love that he is doing that. I wouldn't be falling for the way I am now if he wasn't fighting. He wouldn't be who he is now if he wasn't. It's grown to be such a large part of his life; I don't know who he would be without it. Jamie's decision to fight displays the most important qualities he possesses: his courage, his determination to make a difference in this world, his love for his country, his selflessness, his heart, his strength, and most of all, his dedication to a cause that is overlooked by too many. And Tim is no different from Jamie.
"When I first saw you, I just knew that I had to meet you. There was something about your carefree and outgoing attitude that made me curious. Then you gave your seat up for that elderly lady that came in, that really showed me that you are willing to go out of your way for others, and you are truly a kind person. Then, all of a sudden, your expression changed. You came onto the subway being this crazy, happy person, singing regardless of who was watching, and let me tell you I definitely was. And you did have quite good taste in music." Jamie laughed, reminiscing. "Then something changed. You looked stunned. You looked hurt, and in so much pain. I had no idea what was going on. I was really scared for you, though not knowing who you were. I wanted to go over to you and just comfort you, make sure you were okay. God, the expression you wore on your face was terrifying.
It killed me to see someone so filled with life, and so young to the world hurting in a way that almost brought them to tears only moments after being happy. And it was crazy all I was feeling for you at the time, not even knowing you, but what I felt was something I have never experienced before. Then you finally just pulled out of it. That dark cloud that formed over you depleted. You had this triumphant look on your face; it really was amazing to see. You could tell you were brought to a place, one that I had no idea what horror it consisted of, and you worked through it. You didn't ignore the pain, you dealt with it; something I'm not known for doing. Then you finally got out, and you seemed even happier than before. Accomplishing a task you once thought you could never accomplish. And now that I have really gotten to know you, and you have gotten to know me, I just feel like we are meant to be together.
Our paths crossed at a time neither of us expected. It still baffles me to this day. The odds of how we met, and just those upfront feelings that were present. And then that long-lasting connection we share. The channel we have open between us. That comfort and ease we have of being able to talk about anything. Those exciting thoughts of spending my future with you. I'm crazy for you Anna. What I feel for you keeps getting stronger, day by day. I learn something new about you each time we talk. I get to see this new side of you, and it's so amazing. You have such an optimistic outlook on life; it really brings life to someone who occasionally sees the world as such an awful place. You just light up whatever room you walk into.
You may not notice, but when you are around, you bring so much happiness to others. Your smile, god that smile, can completely change the mood of someone, especially me. You affect me in a way no one else could before. You keep surprising me, and I love that. Wow, I know how you feel now after you realize you have just rambled about everything and anything for a while." Jamie's serious expression suddenly turned light, as he gave a teasing look. "I really just want you to know how much you really do mean to me. I say it a lot, but only because it's a fact that is certain, and one that I can't ignore. I have never felt this way about someone in my life before, Anna. I love you so much. That will never change."
