"Kira!" I jump up from my seat, with my heart beating a million miles an hour.
"Lee! You scared the shit outta me!"I call back, smiling at my best friend.
"Sorry." He winks at me, and takes a seat next to me on the wooden bench, sweeping away my array of textbooks. He attempts a smile at me, but I can tell something's up.
"What's wrong Lee?"
"Eh, it's nothing"
"Lee, I'm not your best friend for nothing. Tell me."
Tears form in his bright blue eyes, and he quickly looks down at the bench.
"Lee. I mean it, tell me right now." I rest my arm around his shoulders, squeezing them a little.
"Kira... She cheated on me. With Toby..." Looking up at me he continued. "She promised Kira, she promised me it wouldn't happen."
"Oh, sweetie... I'm sorry. What are you going to do now?"
"Honestly? I have no idea."
"You going to break up with her?"
"I can't Kira. You know that!"
"Why not Lee?!"
"She treats you like absolute shit!"
"I just... I just can't. She told me, that he kissed her. But she didn't do it back."
"Pathetic. Just pathetic. Lee, I wouldn't just randomly kiss you. Obviously, she had to have had to show some signs of wanting him to kiss her. It doesn't just happen. But it's your choice I guess..."
"I'm sorry Kira..."
"Meh, don't apologize. But if she hurts you one more time, I'm talking to her. I'm so sick of her making you so god damn upset all the time."
"Thanks Kira, it means a lot to me that you care."
"Anytime kid. You know that. Well I'm off, text me later okay?"
"Aright, bye Kira!"
I grab my textbooks, and shove them into my bag, heaving onto my shoulder. I turn around, watching Lee walk away.
My chest tightens, I wished the pain in my chest would go. It pains me so much. But I tell myself, that the only thing that I'm upset over is the fact that he's hurt. I tell myself that I don't care about him, any more than I'm supposed to.
