Love And The Magic of Monsoons In India
Monsoons in India evoke a very special feeling amongst one and all. From city dwellers to lovers, the rains have something extraordinary in them that make the season one of the most beloved for all.
Monsoons have hit the southern part of India. Ask those who know the beauty and romance of the rains, and the meaning it holds in the lives of countless Indians. As the sheets of water lash the winds and the trees sway with merriment, life comes to a complete standstill.
Greenery that is waiting to blossom, lovers waiting to meet, grass waiting to sprout, frogs waiting to mate; all are looking forward to the divine feeling of the cold showers that bring much respite from the heat of the summer. It is not only humans that look forward to this season of merriment, the entire spectrum of nature looks forward to the life giving water coming down from the heavens.
Of course, there are certain perennial problems that come with the rains, such as missing electricity and increasingly large potholes. Problems besides, the magic of the monsoon cannot be undone by these minor blemishes that we seemingly cannot overcome. Ask the couple in love as they take a walk in the mist whilst on their honeymoon in a densely forested hill station. The breeze making the trees sway with the gentle droplets creating a thrilling feeling that remains unparalleled, making their hearts beat faster with each gentle step in the enchanting rain. The feeling of love only manifests itself greatly when such lovely weather gladdens the heart and sets the adrenalin rushing.
If you are not lucky enough to be taking a walk in a hill station of your choice, you can still enjoy the quaint feeling by simply stepping outside and looking up. Let the rain fall on your face, and soak you in all its glory. Worry not about your clothes getting wet, or your sneakers losing their sheen. Just let your mind relax and take pleasure in the enchantment of the moment. If you are the overly conscious type, wait for nightfall and take your share of pleasure when too many people are not there to look at you or worry about you.
Yet another way to celebrate the spirit of the monsoon is to eat your heart out. I cannot but recollect with fondness the special items made purely to celebrate the coming of the rain. Steaming hot pakoras (vegetables dipped in gramflour and deep fried), and malpuras(fried pancakes of sugar and jaggery) are deeply entrenched in many minds as being synonymous with the rains. Sitting in the verandah with these delicacies flowing while the rains do their merry dance is as close as it gets to a heavenly feeling while still living on this earth!
The monsoons are here! The very epitome of Indian life, this is a season not to be missed for anything.
